Just got WM1AM2 directly from Sony US. It's volume capped, I couldn't believe my ears. NW-A105 is much louder. We are talking 20-25 clicks difference. What a disappointment! On a positive note, I love its sound signature. Sending it back and ordering a Japanese version from eBay.

Even if it's the case, I can see how APM's could cannibalize sales of mid-fi gear. The likes of Sennheiser, IBasso, Sony and even Astell&Kern should be on the lookout.

If APM's sound as good as LCD2C's, then why spend an extra grand in the best case scenario on a good source to drive them? You can use your iPhone instead. Apple will save the audiophile community money. It's a win-win.

From memory (I sold HD6XX a long time ago), HD6XX were brighter but I can't comment on the mids. HD600 has too much treble for my taste. HD6XX sort of sits in the middle even thought HD650 and HD600 treble is more refined than HD6XX.

They are in the same family but to my ears HD650 has wider soundstage and are smoother in the treble than HD6XX. That's why I sold HD6XX and kept HD650.

Get HD650. They have bigger soundstage than HD6XX. I bought both and sold HD6XX.
