Review: Philips Fidelio L1 [Updated 5/14]

Echoing DannyBai's thoughts.  If you thought the MDR1 sounded congested you'll probably not like the L1 too much, definitely darker, slightly warmer.    Sony's are definitely the comfiest headphones I've ever had though, also has better stage than the L1's.  I actually thought the Sony's...

Whats the beef with Beats pros headfi?

At around 150-170 ish range, there's still a sheesh-ton handful of options that sound better, imho.  Therein lies the controversy regarding the Beats, especially at/near retail.

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!

Pretty surprised so many having comfort issues with the FA-011's pads.  I took these bad boys (version 1/original version I guess) literally out of my closet over last weekend for kicks and was pleasantly surprised about how good they sounded and how comfortable they were.    Used them for...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Quote: Yo Bobby Lee, you probably should list your preferred priorities (weight of price vs. portability vs. maintenance vs. isolation vs. music genre preferences vs. bass/mid/treble vs. analytical:fun vs. comfort etc...)   Should give members a better sense to give you a better...

The Deals Thread II. (READ THE FIRST POST!)

Quote:   Nice. Showing up at 189.99 for me, though.   Doesn't it look like it's an official/authorized Sony retailer however, if that matters for the picky.  Still tempting though... the cheapness in me wonders if these will keep going lower, lol.

    What beats Sony MDR-1R?

Quote: Haha, I know right.  Was reading through his comments waiting for the part where he explains why his and the others' conclusions were founded on objectivity and not tainted by any subjectivity... only to get to the end and realize that he has no idea what he's talking about.

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Blah.  Was going to pull for a pair of these but these quality control issues kind of scaring me off.    I mean what if you didn't get them from Amazon and had a defective pair, doubt Sony or other retailers would be so forgiving to keep sending you new pairs...??   Seemed like these...

    JVC HA-FXT90 Thread

90's have much more bass than the DBA-02, in terms of quantity.   I own all three of these b*ishes, I think the 700 is vastly superior to the other two.  But that's just me.

Returned New Westone 4's - Trying Klipsch X10i's

Second the IE8/80.  IE7 if you don't like as much bass or want something more neutral.   Another path is to try the SM3-definitely a darker sound, but somewhat warm and clean.  But I think you would be happier with dynamics.  Probably.

    Rank the IEM's you've heard

Tough.   Of the ones currently in rotation...   FX700 > SM3 > DBA-02 > FX-T90 = EPH-100 >= IE7 = ASG-1.1   I think the first three are technically superior, but the rest are fairly close-a matter of preferences/listening conditions/music type.  Though tbh, the ASG based on technical...

    VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread

Quote:   Haha weird, every where/forum I go today I see a reference to Zeus...   Any ways, final impressions seem like what I was thinking.  If you liked the IE8 but found it too veiled, might want to try the IE7-should be much cleaner, neutral though less of an impact with regards to...

    JVC HA-FXT90 Thread

^ True this.  I honestly wasn't very impressed with the FX-90's either, they were pretty good-nothing astounding.   But I just did some tip rolling and got pleasantly surprised at how solid they sound with the right tips and fit.  Went with Hybrids, one size larger than normal and not only...

    Yamaha EPH-100

Yeah, I concur that these aren't that good with classical.  And just "aight" with jazz.  I fired up Mozart's Requiem and it was okay, not nearly as good as on my FX700's.  But they are fantastic with EDM, Pop, Hip-Hop/R&B, shoe-gaze, most indie/alt I've tried, etc...   Side note: I...

Quote:   I read through the thread and I don't think anybody answered your question, which I was curious about too.   I believe that if you plug the D12 through USB (to say use it as a DAC/amp unit) with the charge switch off, it will run using the internal battery.   So not...

    JVC HA-FXT90 Thread

Quote:   I'll listen to them back to back later to give a better impression, but off the top of my head/memory... IE7's have a larger, grander sound stage, stronger bass.  Sounds a touch warmer, as well.  The FX-T90's are cleaner up top and have less mid-bass.  Mids I think are...

    Yamaha EPH-100

These are great.  Like really great.   For the general masses, I can't see why anybody wouldn't like them.  Just a nice, fun sound.  Good timbre, bass, mids.  Clean and very good separation.  Laid-back and smooth, yet the sound feels energetic, punchy.  Comfortable and light, great...

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)

Shouldn't be a bass distortion at all, I've used mine for quite a long while and have pumped out a lot of bass, even boosting it eq/amps like the ZO and no problems...   Will recommend getting a replacement pair as well-sounds like you might have gotten a rare dud.

Fender IEM (Aurisonics) Impressions, Reviews & Discussions Thread

Hmm. To V1.2 or not...   Ironically enough whenever I listen to these, I've gotten use to just stock sound, no EQ and even stock tips are working best for me.  Love the unique presentation, upfront vocals/mids, layering, textures et al of the phone.   Definitely anxious to hear some...

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)

Quote:   I've had them awhile, probably close to 300 hours by now.  The sound stage (or size-I guess) does change a bit with different tips/insertion depth.  Usually I like large Sony Hybrid tips (one size larger than usual), sound stage is really quite expansive with those. ...

RedGiant: A Supernova in the Making?

Quote:   Yeah, this is fairly close to how I feel.  I agree that the FX-90 has very timbre and the mids are better...let's say presented more up front and closer, than the FX-700, they are noticeably distinctly at least a tier apart if you A/B them.  I will say that after putting...
