Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)

Nice looking studio V, I think mines the second edition but its impressive sounding. Have you had any experience of the device displaying a padlock and locking the controls? Its the one thing I don't like.

Apex Glacier amp/dac review and appreciation thread

I think the glacier a excellent amp, but being a retailer he probably doesn't like to recommend stuff, Pete millet is the designer of the glacier and he designs some rather nice tube stuff as well.

    Android phones and USB DACs

I've got a few DAC/amps, the audio quest Dragonfly doesn't work with stock android on the Samsung s3 but does with USB recorder pro, I've got a ud110 on the way which as far as I've told the version 2  is fully s3 compatible, will confirm.

improving the bass of Shure se535

Never really found the bass lacking on the 535's, picked up a RSA intruder which I havn't spent a lot of time with but seemed to give the shures some extra ommph low down.

Apex Glacier amp/dac review and appreciation thread

Im just going to stick with my trusty s3 for a while until they sort the s4 problems out, the google s4 edition look interesting has anyone confirmed DAC support, the only reason Im wondering this is my nexus 7 had googles latest release but didn't have DAC support so I had to put smoothrom on it.

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

I think if some people actually do some research to find shares RRP of this product they will find it is quite a bit more than $1000, its not something I wanted to mention due to the amount of fluff this threads collecting over the price and putting down of shares new flagship based on price...

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

Well not completely true, apple designs and manufactures the new A6 or something the also bought out instrinsity who specialise in optimising ARM's holdings design. but Im going to shut up now.

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

Its pointless comparing costs of a 3gs and iphone 5 most the hardware inside is made by other manufacturers anyways, apples plant hasn't been running long. In fact samsung and intrinsity designed the cpu in the 3gs.

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

right im getting irked. apple selling the iphone 5 for the same price as the 3gs is innovation. Do you know anything about what it costs for silicon fabrication plants 32nm 28nm and batch yields?

    Android phones and USB DACs

Quote: The PD-XM6 doesn't I beleive do 24bit my memories a bit hazy but Im pretty sure it upsamples 16bit to 24bit but doesn't do 24 bit natively, the apex glacier does though.

    Android phones and USB DACs

Yes android down samples, but USB recorder recorder pro allows a 24bit data stream (I think, as I havn't tested it)

Apex Glacier amp/dac review and appreciation thread

I kinda like them all, I prefer to have options but for serious sit down listening the PCStep or the XM6 (in that order) , the apex glacier is quite energetic, they all pair fine and Neutron/Powewamp android mixer functions work.

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

To me the 'money' thing at this stage is a crass argument   a) A new low pass filter and crossover design   b) 3 changeable nozzle sleeve which change the sound   with reference to 'b' possible 3 different in-ears for the price of one.   So lets drop the money issue until it is...

PCStep Appreciation, Impressions and Comparisons thread.

You might in for a long wait, android device manufacturers arn't adding in dac support as standard, only samsung sony htc and maybe some others seem to be doing it.   this thread is a good source of info..   http://www.head-fi.org/t/595071/android-phones-and-usb-dacs

Shure SE846: A New In-Ear Flagship From Shure. Finally! (Impressions p26-28)

Be quite funny if some veteran reviewers say "it worth every cent", guess some people here will be eating there own words. If the new nozzle setup is any good it could actually 3 in-ears for the price of one.
