Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
Hi guys, Looking for some information if anyone has it! I'm looking on local craigslist and I found a Luxman FQ990 for sale. From the pictures, it looks to be in very nice condition and it is being sold for $100. I looked online but I couldn't find much information on it. Does anyone...- youngngray

pencil fi?
Quote: "buy nice or buy twice" I've never heard that before, I like it! Are you sure you need an aluminum body? What's your reason for that? If you can live with plastic, look for a Pentel GraphGear 500. I've got one and its a solid pencil.- youngngray

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
Ok bigshot, since you seem to have done the most testing for yourself, did you ever compare MP3 V0? Or any other variable bit rate encoding? How did you find it in comparison to the others?- youngngray

Should I Get an Amp?
Quote: Ah, thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, I did get mine a while ago (I know, not upgrading for over a year? *gasp*! :P ) and I haven't really been keeping up with that market... Maybe I should just educate myself a little more before I post these things... haha- youngngray

Should I Get an Amp?

Should I Get an Amp?
You may want to think about a DAC/amp combo type deal for use with the computer setup. Unless you have a nice soundcard, most computer outputs sound, well, less than optimal to put it nicely. For portable use, I'm of the mentality that "Don't get one unless the 'phones are too quiet." But...- youngngray

Should I get Audio Technica ATH-M50 or Philips Citiscape Uptown
I'm listening to my M50's as we speak (well, type). While I have never heard or seen your other choice, I can say in terms of build quality, the M50 is a tank. There was a video I forget where now, where I guy bent them almost all the way backwards without them breaking. Unfortunately if you're...- youngngray

Yaaaaaaawn... (Most boring thread ever)
As I was lazing through another forum on the internet, just being totally bored out of my mind, I was thoroughly un-entertained by a particular thread that advocated for the least interesting things in the world. What non-inspiring stories do you have of watching your front lawn grow or...- youngngray

pencil fi?
Quote: I got my GraphGear a while before the Graph 1000. When I first got it (GraphGear), I thought it was the greatest pencil ever to walk the Earth! I used it to write with, draw, do technical sketches, and everything else in between. Fast forward to more recently when I got my Graph...- youngngray

This joke is totally awesome.
Quote: I will neither confirm nor deny that statement, no comment. What I will confirm is late night studying, deciding to turn up your music, and getting yelled at to turn it down without ever thinking anyone else could hear it.- youngngray

Where is that music coming from?!?!?!
With browsers using basic tabbed functionality, I want to know, how many tabs you got open right now!? Typically I sit with 4 or 5 open unless I'm doing something where I want to look up multiple things at once. Also, if you don't have your "typical" number of tabs open right now, how many do...- youngngray

How many songs do you have in your music library?
A measly 1607 right now... Predominantly FLAC CD rips, but I keep V0 copies of all the FLAC's to put on the iPod. I'd say the majority of my expendable cash right now is going to be going towards building up my library.- youngngray

pencil fi?
Anybody have any experience with different leads? Esp. in a drafting type pencil? I have a .5 GraphGear 1000 and I've just been using some standard HB stuff, but I'm curious if any of you all have a particular preference when it comes to lead type/hardness?- youngngray

DELETED!
Personally, I like to think that price has "nothing" to do with my decision on what equipment to buy (outside of being able to afford it). Sadly, I know this isn't true. I see it sort of like going to the grocery store when you're hungry. It makes you tempted to buy more food and spend more...- youngngray
