Comment by 'analoggrotto' on listing 'Matrix Audio Element X New with Grado SR325x'
The X2 is a new style TRRS balanced output which is unlike the typical 4 pin XLR employed for balanced headphones and featured on the X. X2 does not use a microSD which the X has, and I consider this a significant deficiency for the new model. This is a very nice deal.- analoggrotto

Matrix Element M - Improvement?
Matrix sells a PCI card with a regular old USB 3.0 socket and the option for the user to add different power sources, some of which can cost more than the entire computer. Anyway I have this card, and I power it from my PC's PSU because I just didnt want to fall down that rabbit hole of exotic...- analoggrotto

Schiit Bifrost Uber Analog Upgrade
This is great. A good upgrade to buy me some time before trying to go full balanced; just when I was wondering if this was ever going to happen. I wonder if this will put it in front of my XA5400ES for redbook.- analoggrotto

The Schiit SACD/DSD Research Thread--Your Chance to Win a Bifrost!
1. Are you familiar with SACD? DSD? Yes 2. Do you own any SACDs? Yes 3. If so, what percentage of your collection is SACD vs CD or files? 10% of typical music 4. Is SACD/DSD decoding an important consideration when you're looking for a DAC? Yes, I would pursue more SACD 5. If...- analoggrotto

AKG K1000: Tube or Solid State?
Is the K1000 safe to use out of a T-amp directly? When the phenomenon started, power resistors were being used in parallel for impedance matching, just want to make sure im not destroying my now-rare K1Ks.- analoggrotto

EMU 0404 + FB2k + Windows 7: What Am I doing Wrong?
Hello - Any help would be appreciated: I have the foo_out_asio extension added. "E-DSP Audio Processor (WDM)" is selected in foobar's output (shouldnt an ASIO component show up here?). But the thing wont even play a file, it wont even start or show album/track information in the right hand list...- analoggrotto

AKG K1000 + Headamp GS-X
The GS-X setup would be a fast-track to fully balanced (Presonus Central Station as Source). I am avoiding the T-Amp route as to not get mixed up in the power resistor/impedance matching mess. Is the Red Wine T-amp based?- analoggrotto

AKG K1000 + Headamp GS-X
Not sure if the combined costs of this equipment warrants posting in this "Summit-Fi" section... But since K1000 discussion tends to concentrate itself here; this seems like the best move. I wish to stay solid state, away from T-Amps, and purchase new. Gilmore amps seems to be more...- analoggrotto
