Hi. I received this new in box from Headphones.com on Jan 24, 2023. I’ve played it for a bit since.

To sweeten the deal, I will add a 6 mo. old pair of Grado SR325x.

It’s so good I thought I’d keep it and continue my sale of the Lina DAC or Tambaqui. It’s that good at a fraction of the price. Alas, I need more power in the headphone section to Expanse.

Complete on original double boxing w all original docs and included things (remote, cable etc.).

It is “X” as listed. The X2 and the X have the same internals, including the ESS 9038 Pro.

I have both devices. They sound identical.

The X2 has no balanced headphone output. The X2 also has an internalized Wi-Fi antenna. Finally, the X2 has an HDMI arc input.

Both the X and the X2 have an I2s input.

The X2 is $4400.

Curious, is there a way to use it as a line-level DAC to one amp while also using it as a pre-amp for power speakers? I’m guessing that would present issues...

Cool. Using premap volume would affect both, right? No way to set one of them to line level output and the other to preamp?

I see. There's an option to switch from fixed volume to preamp. It is in the app.

You could also set the speakers to unity gain and control both the amp and the speakers volume from the Matrix using the remote, Roon/Audirvana or the Matrix app.

The thing sounds and looks so good I am on the fence about selling, as I always am with these things.

Cool, thank you. Will think a bit more about it. Sounds like a killer DAC at a good price, with other bells and whistles.

The X2 is a new style TRRS balanced output which is unlike the typical 4 pin XLR employed for balanced headphones and featured on the X. X2 does not use a microSD which the X has, and I consider this a significant deficiency for the new model. This is a very nice deal.
