the Pimeta-V2 thread
I have the same problem where one of my buffers gets hot enough to hurt me if I touched it. I know I installed one of them in reverse and I think on a different one there was a bridged solder joint and after I corrected it then one gets hot so they're probably fried or something. I'm using the...- pulsar08

the Pimeta-V2 thread
Whoops I see the mistake! BufL is reversed...lol. I guess was paying more attention to putting on the right amount of thermal paste than the direction. Now to try desoldering it and see if it's salvageable- pulsar08

the Pimeta-V2 thread
There is an external power supply (an acopian 24v linear regulated) being fed into the pimeta. The battery pack has not been constructed yet (planning to use 10-14 2500mah AA nimh depending how they fit in the case). I was going to do that when it came time to case it. C1 is jumpered. It's...- pulsar08

the Pimeta-V2 thread
I had 11.6v on the V+ and V- of both opamp sockets prior to installing any opamps or buffers. Once I install the opamps and buffers I check and the rail voltage was like 19 on the V+ and 1.9 on the V- of both opamps. The buffers were hot too. I went back and cleaned up my soldering around the...- pulsar08

The Opamp thread
The dc offset with lme49860 was ~0-1 both channels, ad8599 was ~1/3, lt1364 was 36mV but I figured that was safe with only 32ohm impedance. I gave ad8610 a quick listen and it was pretty bad. opa627 otoh is by far the best. nothing else I've used is anywhere close. This is with a modded x-fi...- pulsar08

The Opamp thread
Can I use my opa627 and ad8610 on adapters and ad823 which I bought for my pimeta v2 safely in my little dot I+? I read somewhere that fet input opamps are more fragile so I don't want to kill them. I've tried lt1364, lme49860, opa227, ad8599, and opa2132 I would have to say I prefer the opa2132...- pulsar08

help fixing turntable: realistic lab 1600
I just tried this record player out that my dad gave me. It hasn't been used in a long time. I listened to one side of a record and about half way through the 2nd side the right channel went dead. I shut it off for the day and came back a day later and it worked for a whole side of a record then...- pulsar08

the Pimeta-V2 thread
Oh yeah. Sorry. I forgot about the second issue I have. Which caps would be best for power supply rails. Assuming I can use the +/-12v supply/15xAA nimh. The tallest caps my enclosure can hold are 34mm. I'm considering these which are available on mouser: 3x 647-UHD1H681MHD 680uf 50v...- pulsar08

the Pimeta-V2 thread
I have a +/-12v dual regulated supply that is lying around. I checked to see if it's isolated and I think it is. Is it possible to use a dual supply with a pimeta that also has nimh batteries? Do I just keep TLE2426 as designed and connect the V+ and V- and leave ground unconnected or would...- pulsar08

vinyl question, record is disintegrating
If the chemical had gone bad I would think it would have reacted with the other records I used it on but maybe not. The other possibility is that I just filled the grooves with dust and the needle is digging it out as it plays. This seems like it might be possible since I can see what looks like...- pulsar08

vinyl question, record is disintegrating
Yes, the solution is designed for vinyl. It says right on the label "anti-static record cleaner designed to efficiently remove dust, dirt and static without harming records" lol- pulsar08

vinyl question, record is disintegrating
Yeah I realize that and I won't use that cleaner again either. I hope the stylus is ok. It still sounds ok for an old shure v15 type iii but I'm not too sure if it is different than before.- pulsar08

I bought a record off ebay and it played fine but was a bit dusty so I cleaned it with this solution called magic giant thats been sitting in our cabinet for 30 years or so and a velvet brush and it must've had some kind of reaction cuz when I play it now it is disintegrating and leaving all...- pulsar08

HOWTO: SRC Best Sinc Resampler Ubuntu 9.10 (noob friendly)
Almost every digital source these days uses a dac chip which will employ hardware resampling to convert a 44.1khz signal to native 48/96/192khz. This interpolation cause signal degradation to some degree. Foobar2000 has a built in resampler dsp (PPHS) which is optimized for low cpu usage. There...- pulsar08

Any benefits from having a higher sample rate?
Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Have fun reading that. It essentially boils down to the same thing many people have said.
