The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
You can use other audio opamps that are single channel or SOIC (surface Mount) but they will require adapters to work with the STX. Many audio grade opamps that people will suggest are surface mount and/or single channel units.- Jackbush

These HD600's are terrible, and so are ALL headphones! I give up!!
You could try IEM but since to really experience what good IEM are like your probably gonna have to spend 1000$+ (have to be customized to your ears and considering how demanding you are you'll probably have to get UE10 or better)- Jackbush

Getting skeptical: does "better" really exist?
It's a valid conclusion to compare runners based on a race where one is half starved? That's like saying it's valid to compare an AD700 amped with a beta-22 to an AKG701 plugged into thin air.- Jackbush

Looking at the list of terms for frequency ranges, I wouldn't take it as gospel, although as a rough guide for the uninitiated, it's useful.- Jackbush

Ultrasone Interview with D.Sc. Florian M. Koenig
It stands out so much against all the other plain, black headsets everyone else uses. Plus its easier to build a mic into the HFI series than the PROline. But hey, if they wanted to buy Edition 9 headsets, we would be more than happy to sell them to them- Jackbush

The Grado HF2--It's For Real
A baby PS-1000 does sound really tempting though. I really dislike the harsh highs and sibilance in the SR series and if this HF-2 is going to have none of that, perhaps it's the perfect opportunity for me to experience the Grado sound.- Jackbush

AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!
I run them with my Dynalo and like the combo quite a bit. I also have SR-60s which are relegated to work pretty much. I previously had a pair of K401s which convinced me that AKG was the closest to what I was looking for.- Jackbush

The Audio-gd Compass (Was: Designing an alternative to the Zero DAC/amp)
since this is targeted for more beginners, 24/96 support probably isn't a big priority (unless it doesn't add much to the cost). If it adds a significant amount to the cost it's probably better to leave it out.- Jackbush

Recommendations for Best headphones on the market (new and old)
This one's easy for me. Etymotics ER-4S (I have P with adapter cable, but I never use them w/o the 4P-4S adapter) and KSC-35s. I got the KSCs for 35 dollars and I have used them more than any headphones I've ever owned (haven't even had them a year yet). I could go for a nice pair of closed...- Jackbush
