Please help with a replacement cable for my ER4P

I need a new cable for my out-of-warranty ER4P. I think I have narrowed it down to two choices.   - An actual ER4P cable for $85: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290628895406&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123   or   - A Shure cable for $30...

    Goodbye Shure

I have been a loyal customer of Shure for 5 years.  I have dealt with the crappy build quality of the E4 and SCL4 because of their good support.  I have returned my phones for warranty replacement 4 times in 6 years.  I have always received a new retail package until today.  I sent in my fourth...

Any places in the Denver area where I can try out different mid-high end IEM's?

I need to upgrade from 4+ years of E4C and SCL4.  I would love to try out some different phones before I buy. Anyone know of anything in the Denver area?

    Please help with my SCL-4

I will soon be receiving my fourth pair of SCL4 for warranty replacement.  Since I can't sell these for enough money to buy something comparable, I will be stuck with them until they fail and I have to get pair #5. What can I do to prevent the cable going to crap?  I wear them over the ear. ...

    Moving from E4 / SCL4. Please help.

I have been a very happy user of the E4 and SCL4 for > five years. The fit, isolation, comfort, and sound have been absolutely perfect for me. I can wear these for hours at a time, with a perfect seal and perfect comfort. I have loved them. But, I am currently on my fourth pair. I have...

4G 60GB Photo --> 6G 160GB Classic - Anyone NOT think it is an improvement?

I have searched and do not see much definitive info about this specific upgrade. Is there anyone who has moved from the 4G to the 6G who does NOT think it is a 100% absolutely fantastic upgrade of SQ? Are there any advantages to sticking with the 4G from a SQ point of view?

    Thank you Shure customer service

I just had a pair of E4's replaced when they failed at 1 year and 10 months. I really appreciate how quick and effortless it was to get a brand new pair sent to me. I will certainly buy Shure in the future and will recommend it to my friends. Since I have never used Ety or any others, I can't...

Bassy amp vs. increasing bass via EQ

There is a pretty strong consensus that EQ'ing music is bad. However, putting flat music through an amp that emphasizes the bass seems to be "OK". Is there really a difference in the final product? How does EQ cause distortion when the amp seems to improve the sound similarly without distortion?

    'IQ' appreciation

I recently acquired Dark Matter as my first introduction to this band. I can't stop listening to it. It is fantastic. I am now shopping for the rest of their catalog. Anyone else appreciate this band? (IQ is a tough term to search for)

    Rhino from BMG

I received a copy of 'Year Of The Cat' from BMG today. It was a Rhino issue. No BMG markings of any kind on the CD or inserts. Is this common?

    Use cars speakers

I want to play my iPod through my cars speakers but don't want to spend $100 or more for a new deck that has a line-in. Is there any way to connect the iPod headphone-out directly to my cars speakers, bypassing the deck?

    iPod battery life

I am going to do this myself, but I was wondering if anyone had actually done any real testing of how different features drain the battery. For example: Backlight - Off vs. 2 Seconds vs. Always On EQ - Off vs. On Volume - High vs. Medium vs. Off (using an amp) File size and type - 320K vs...

Change iTunes bit rate on the fly

I have ripped all my CD's at 320K fixed AAC. How do I upload these files onto my iPod at 256K vbr AAC? Can I change it on the fly like this, or do I have to stick with the bit rate that I ripped them at?

Interesting ways of finding new music. Sometimes it is pure chance.

Lake of Tears, Porcupine Tree, Gamma Ray, and Opeth are some of my favorite bands right now. My discovery of these bands amazes me and I consider myself lucky for finding them. It was total chance. I am a big fan of fantasy and I was searching on P2P for some audiobook clips of the...

    Opinion: Neil Young live

So, what do you think? Do you prefer seeing Neil as a one man show with his guitars and piano, or is he better with a band? I've seen both, and he is great either way. The only problem with seeing Neil live, is you will never hear him play all of the great songs. There just isn't time.

    iPod photo - headphone-out vs. line-out

There is definitely much better bass from the headphone-out than there is from the line-out going through a pocket-dock. From what I have read, this should not be the case. Is this true? Is the headphone-out going to add more bass than the unamped line-out? I don't consider myself an...

    Stuff your IEM tips?

Has anyone experimented with stuffing the flex sleeves with cotton, tissue, foam, etc? Does it help? What works best? The E4's have great isolation, but any kind of improvement would be nice.

    iPod Photo - (amp?) - Shure E4

I am down to the Go-Vibe or the PA2V2 for amps less than $100. Does anyone have any personal experience with amping the iPod Photo and E4? Is one amp better than the other? Does it improve the sound enough to justify it? If you like the Go-Vibe, which op-amp do you like? Thanks.
