Thinking of getting K701's (noobish questions inside)

My K271's recently fell apart and I've been looking at some cans for under $300 to replace them. The main thing I'm wondering though is if I'd notice much of a difference between the K701 and K271 since I'm mainly going to be using it to plug into my comp (onboard sound) and won't have an amp...

Need a little help putting my headphones back together

My pair of AKG271's are pretty old and they're starting to fall apart. The right ear piece came off and there's a red and white wire loose that I need to re-solder. Problem is, I don't know where the white wire is supposed to go. On the piece that fell off you can see that there's a red wire...

    E2C's sound like crap...

Something's not right here. My iPod headphones sound better then these things..The E2's are extremely trebly and it says to try to a different shell thing but none of the other ones fit.

    Which one? Shure E1c, E2c, or E3c?

Shure E1c $159.00 Shure E2c $99.00 Shure E3c $179.00 Those are the prices at Todd's, is the 80 dollar difference worth the upgrade from E2c to E3c? I listen to a lot of rock, metal, and some soft stuff too so all around. These would be coupled with an iPod video.

Good amp to couple with 5G Video ipod and AKG K271's?

Any idea? Pretty affordable too I suppose.

Good affordable amp for AKG K271's?

I'm a headphone/amp n00b so something not too expensive would be nice...

Noticing some crackling in my headphones

I have the AKG K271's and ever since I got them in December I've noticed this crackling using an iRiver H320, pluggin into my comp's onboard sound, and the receiver for the receiver for my TV sound set up. It seems to occur mostly at extreme low frequencies when low toms on a drums are being...

Do I need an amp for my headphones?

I have the AKG K271's (http://www.toddthevinyljunkie.com/pr...uct.php?id=170) and even when I plug them into my receiver for my TV set up at home they still don't sound as good as I would expect. Plugging into my iRiver they sound even worse. It's not BAD quality just not what I would expect...

    Staticy sound?

Every so often I notice a bit of static noise going on with my AKG K271's...I'm pretty sure it's not the songs themselves because I've listened to a variety of different types and genres and the problem persists. It's not too noticeable, but it bugs me. I usually hear this when really low tuned...

Is it possible that my iRiver H320 isn't powerful enough to drive my headphones?

Recently I got the AKG K271's, and while they sound good for the most part, I've noticed occasionally that they perform worse than expected. I've had someone told me it could be that my player isn't powerful enough to drive the cans to their potential...what is the likelyhood of this...

Is it normal for 1 day old headphones to sound a bit scratchy?

It's very very unoticeable and it seems to only occur when a lot of things are going on in the music (distortion + hi-hat). I got the AKG K271's for Xmas and while they sound great otherwise, this is one thing I noticed. Is this part of the "breaking in" process? I've only used for about 1.5...

How portable are the AKG K271's?

Right now I've got Grado SR-60's and I've been lugging them around in my backpack for 2 years without any problems, so unless this baby is really fragile or whatnot... Also, I hear they're good for metal/hard rock, but that may just be preference. Any truth to this?

How are the Sony MDR-D66SL Eggo's?

I'm lookin' for some new portable closed cans, but not to drive or anything, I'm a n00b to the world of headphones. My friend recommended these to me over the HD280's and Ultrasone 650's. Speaking of which, how are the 650's? I'll be listening to metal.

    Best closed headphones under $400?

Preferrably ones that cover your entire ear. I'm upgrading from my Grado SR-60's and I was hoping to find some cans that weren't so loud in public, but also sound great. Someone recommended me both the Sony V6's and the Ultrasone 650's, but I'm still trying to decide. I've had some pretty...
