    LG V30

Hi guys, yesterday I received the new Sennheiser HD 58X from Massdrop and they are an amazing companion for our V30. It gets about 20% louder than HD 600 and it really feels great. The sound quality with Tidal through UAPP is far beyond my expectations. Now I can forget about amps for home use.

I didn't quite understand one thing. Would LG V30 with a headphone like Drop Sennheiser HD 58X with 150 Ohm impedance automatically go into high gain mode? And with low impedance iems would it stay on low gain? Is there much difference in SQ between the two? Has anyone been able to compare...

Yep, LG phones with the 58X are brilliant together. Personally, I've found anything more demanding isn't as good of a match

...off with the HE400S, but the pairing is still not ideal imo. I think dynamic drivers are a better match with the V30. HE4XX and HE400I have the same specs. I sold my HE400S and grabbed a pair of Sennheiser HD 58X. Much better pairing, and I personally think the HD 58X is a better sounding can.

PS: The issue of oversampling is also not very clear to me. Can't play at 16/44 I read, using UAPP would I lose something in SQ because of that?

...the right headhones with V30 you can forget about other DAPs easilly. Unless of course you have a big collection of headphones and you like to try many different combinations. My "endgame" right now with V30 are Sony N3AP and Ibasso IT01 as IEM on the go and Sennheiser HD 58X (150 ohmn) at home.

Yes, all headphone above 50ohm will force the high impedance mode automatically. That's the caveat with my Denons or Quad headphones, which have a resistance of lower than 30 ohm, i've to trigger the HIM with my old AKG K530ltd headphone. :) Imo, there is no difference in sonic quality between...

...hassle. As for what it will drive, I've tried the Hifiman HE400S (planar) - one of the easiest to drive, and it didn't satisfy. For me personally, I think the 150 ohm HD 58X is about as difficult to drive as I'd want to go. It's a good pairing. I feel like I can drive them to their full...

If you're downloading files through the Tidal app, MQA or not, they will not play anywhere else. Depending how loud you want to listen to your music, just do the Aux mode. No ohm adapter needed. I personally feel planars are the only ones that really need High Impedance mode. As for apps, you...

Have you tried the "dynamic" setting in the sound settings menu?

    LG V30

Ok, that's cool. But you still need to do the "Properties" thing I mentioned earlier on the Tidal songs (Amazon ones sound like mp3s to me) so that I know for sure what you're working with. Let me know. I still have no clue what "Master" means. I'm hoping it's not MQA, though I don't know what...

...the DFR and also Iphone 6. The v30 sounds thinner and brighter, DFR is fuller and smoother. This is not a problem with warm headphone (like the 58x or the Phonon smb 02). It can be a problem with monitor like headphone (Sehhneiser hd25, Sennheiser ie40). I tried more than 10 different...

Interesting. I don't think I've ever compared the LG app with UAPP. I'll have to give it a go. I did try the bundled B&O IEMs today for the first time since I got the phone a year or so ago. I put them straight back in the box after about 5 seconds.

...to make even the soft pads literally vibrate on your face....I am not joking (how much more bass do you need really). I can't wait for my 6xx, 58x and Focal elex's to come in. I also can confirm that the FiiO A5 is a significant upgrade from an A3 and while the A5 plus V35 doesn't sound as...

...best, and truth be told, it's not terrible. The sound is starting to open up some through more use, and it's playing relatively nicely with my 58X. Auxiliary mode is another story. Even with the volume maxed out with my B&O H6, it sounds thin and less dynamic than the 30. I haven't played...

...the battery life, EXCEPT the audio quality. In short, even though they share the same chip set, the 40 is quieter. Using Neutron with my 58X, I have to max out the volume at 100 to reach what I did at 87 on the 30. Neutron moves in incriments of 7. Furthermore, Meridian Audio tuned the 40...

75 ohm adapter works, but I recommend getting a short extension cable and plug it in extension cable > 75 ohm adapter > headphone Then plug it ALL into the phone (this triggers high impedance mode). Then remove the 75 ohm adapter while not removing the extension cable so it stays in High...

I've had people on here confirm for me that this 75 ohm adapter on eBay will do the trick! You want something ABOVE 50 ohm, but one guy on here told me that if you go over 100 it MAY (or may not?) cause distortion. So there you go! If it DOESN'T work that can only be because LG changed...
