what will the an 007 amp give me that my SRM-T1 MkII won't if anything with Lambda Nova Sigs?
Title says it all...I may have a chance to upgrade to the 007A tube amp and I want to know if it's even worth it...I'm quite happy with the SRM-T1. But of course, there are areas where it is probably not as good as the 007A...or does the 007A just have more power to drive the 007 and 009 Stax...- Lornecherry

Best heaphone amp/player for palying 24/96 or even 178 HD tracks
First some admissions: ...been lurking in the Stax threads too long and not paying enough attention to this forum; I have a good Stax setup and a SinglePower for dynamic phones. However, I've been out of the portable scene for a while and now want to build a very small, tiny, miniscule system...- Lornecherry

Son wants good device for portable voice recording
My son wants to record vocal tracks (Rap music) and occasional drum tracks or even his garage band. My research shows the Roland Edirol R-09 to seem like a very good product. Is this the best I can do in sub-$400 range. Anyone have this thing and use it for similar types of recordings? Thanks...- Lornecherry

High quality SLA power pack ...how to add capacitors and which ones?
I'm using a 7AMP/hr SLA as power for my Wadia iTransport and want to add high quality caps to the battery lead terminal in order to see if it will increase dynamics. Ditto for the DAC I'm thinking of purchasing, thus taking both "off the grid". Suggestions for the proper caps (good quality)...- Lornecherry

Can I increase the Flash drive size in a 3rd or 4th generation Ipod Nano?
There's been much discussion over increasing or adding flash drives to the larger ipods. I like the nano form factor (especially the form factor of the previous generation) but need 32 MB at least. Is there anyone that can perform the mod?- Lornecherry

$60 IEMs, rugged, decent SQ
My son has broken his Skullcandy IEMs, and I want to get him something that will last him more than a month. (no Skullycandy in this house ) I have no idea of what is best in this price range, so I'm open to ideas. Son is 14 and listens to a variety of music. SQ and ruggedness are...- Lornecherry

Toronto, GTA Headfiers, please raise your hands
I'm trying to gauge interest in the Toronto area for future meets and perhaps something big if the Montreal meet doesn't meet interest expectations. And partly out of just curiosity. So if you're in the Toronto/GTA area; please post! (For some reason, we seem to have trouble getting a big...- Lornecherry

Adjusting soundstage to move more forward on Stax LNS
A recent upgrade to better gear for my computer-based 2nd system has increased resolution and SQ to the point where I feel that my soundstage is so wide, it's somewhat unrealistic. I'm getting so much separation that instruments appear located way left and and right of each ear respectively. I...- Lornecherry

Montreal Show - high end needed (dealers/maufacturers)
Feel free to move this to another forum if it makes more sense there ... In order for the planned meet at the Montreal show to finally make an impact in Canada, I'm hoping we can get some gear out there, even if you, as a dealer or manufacturer cannot make it. I'm willing to act as a...- Lornecherry

Best pro vinyl ripping service
A while back, I was lucky to buy about 60 MFSL LPs, as I had planned on adding a analog front-end. Well now, I don't have the budget for the type of analog playback and record cleaning system I'd like; and I'd like to keep these collector's items in virtually un-played condition. Adding to that...- Lornecherry

Anyone else absolutely hate cell phones?
I find them very intrusive and annoying. And now my wife has informed me that here in Canada, cell phone numbers will be made public, thereby opening up them to further annoyance from telemarketers. Other than dialing out, I rarely give my cell number. I'm mostly at my keyboard and near a...- Lornecherry

any Zana Deux owners in Toronto?
I really want to hear this amp on my Sen 650's, considering that I may order the HD800's. Anyone in Toronto have a Zana setup that is willing to get together for a listening session or "mini-meet"? I have a couple of different Stax setups, a decent SS amp and reasonably high end DAC I could...- Lornecherry

You know you are spending too much time in this hobby when ...
You change the power cord on your microwave and hope the food will taste better. You have both your children cryogenically treated in an effort to reduce their static. You install a DAC into your 1982 Civic and it appears to smooth out the ride. If you live in a house, you rewire the doorbell...- Lornecherry

Flac through Rockboxed Ipod to Wadia 170 iTransport?
Is this even possible? Would like to try FLAC through my Wadia, if it will work. I understand that may 8GB Nano won't work with Rockbox? Can any of the new generation of Nano or iTouch be rockboxed to play FLAC. (The reason I want FLAC, is because of the 24/96 files that I've downloaded from...- Lornecherry

The best after-market cable for the Sen 650 is ....
...looking for the best, as I will be doing some reviews. Amp is Single Power MP3/Supra Hybrid and/or PS Audio heaphone amp. SACD and DVD/A sources with silver cables (so it's reasonably analytical/cool). Also, let me kow the burn-in times you feel optimal for whatever you recommend. Cardas...- Lornecherry

Building a high end portable sytem around Stax Gammas?
I've just picked a pair of Gamma Pros and noticed that they are very light/suitable for portable use. That said, they are not so good for home use and seem ever so cheaply built compared to my other Stax. Running out of SRM-T1 they sound thin, very bass shy and the housing is atrocious in...- Lornecherry

Stax European voltage SRM-007 in the US

PS Audio GCHA mini-review; some initial impressions
A GCHA just showed up via UPS at my door. Bought used on A'gon for $500. Unfortunately, I just sold my Grado G1000s and am awaiting the arrival of Sen 650s, so these initial thoughts are through my iPod's portables stalwarts, the Sen Px 100s. Hence, take my impressions with a grain of rolled-off...- Lornecherry

The best cables for Sen 650s are ....?
Got some Sens coming and I want to give them a fair shot before I forsake dynamics for good as I'm an admitted Staxaholic. So Sen 650's re-cabled with ?? into a Single Power MXP3/Supra hybrid. I have a PS Audio Headphone amp coming also, anyone have that paired with the Sen 650s? Also...- Lornecherry

Best cables to tame digital nasties on poor recordings.
With good recordings my system is nicely balanced between being revealing with a touch of warmth and midrange bloom. Yet, I have this propensity to some 80's CDs and poor rock recordings with enough digital grit to pave main street in a spaghetti western. Whereas I realize that a bad...- Lornecherry

Sold My GS1000's ...now what?
On the spur of the moment, and because the price was right, I sold my GS1000s. The Grados were relegated to my secondary rig, as they fell apart on loud, complex passages, even with a heavily modded SinglePower MXP-3 and Chord DAC64 in front of them. They were extremely comfortable and...- Lornecherry

iBasso experts, what is this amp?
Casque Hifi on fleabay is selling a protable amp as an iBasso or ibasso knock-off. (A copy of a chineese amp, yes it's happened before). 24/96 can it be converted to Apple Lossless?? HD Tracks question.
I have both a Wadia iTransport/ipod and secondary PC running foobar 2000 Trends + Dac+amp. Most of the music I download is high end FLAC or ALAC Apple Lossless for the ITransport. My question is: if I download the new 24/96 format in FLAC from HDtracs can I convert it to Apple lossless with no...- Lornecherry
