A recent upgrade to better gear for my computer-based 2nd system has increased resolution and SQ to the point where I feel that my soundstage is so wide, it's somewhat unrealistic. I'm getting so much separation that instruments appear located way left and and right of each ear respectively. I need to move things forward a bit.
Here's what I'm running: Foobar and/or itunes via USB into a modded Monarchy 24/96 upsampler with Empirical audio Superclock and USB converter (similar to OffRamp type device). Then to Chord DAC and Stax SRM-T1 Lambda Nova Sigs.
Is there are a "crossfeed" plug-in for Foobar that won't kill the sound? Would it be obscene to suggest that I transplant my LNS drivers or Gamma Pro drivers into an old Sigma housing; however ugly that might look. Anyone done this? I'm willing to try a software solution first, but worry about a degrading the software in what is, a well-tweaked system.
