SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
two things... First.. I've owned the NW-WM1AM2 for almost two years.. have always used either the clear TPU case or the black velvet case I bought from China. The TPU always protects the unit very well and a good fit, but felt cheapish and slippery and attracted fingerprints. The black case...- Liono

No, 80 with High gain. Without high gain i needed volume at 100 or more. Certainly harder to drive than Sony headphones and IEMs. But its not only about volume.. the response was noticeably different and flatter without high gain on the headphones.- Liono

Yes quite airy, not as much bass as the XBA-Z5's, but then they are like subwoofers in your ears. Sound stage on one pair was very narrow.. can't remember which pair, I think the 650's. 660s' were good.. s2 not much different from what I could tell.- Liono

Thank you! Just visited Jaben at Adelphi Mall... what a little haven for HiFi enthusiasts!! Don't get that in the UK usually. Tried some Sennheiser 650's, 660S and 660S2 all on 4.4 balanced... never tried openback headphones before. They all needed High gain and volume at 80. Another place...- Liono

Hi all I am in the UK and have been using an imported uncapped Japanese NW-WM1AM2 for the last 11 months - love it. I am going to Australia (Perth) for a long holiday and also on the way back stopping off in Singapore for a few days. Are there any cool hifi or dap shops that I could/should...- Liono

I find pulling out my 1tb micro sdcard and putting in an sdcard converter and placing into my laptop far quicker at transferring than USB cable to walkman. But don't see any reason why what you're trying to do shouldn't work.- Liono

Blimey Psikey, I thought the WM1AM2 was a keeper for you! The ZX707 certainly has me intrigued. The WM1AM2's bulk was always something I've had to get used to compared to my ZX1, but does sound so good- Liono

Completely agree!! Any normal, sane person would not put up with it for the circa £1k price tag. Got to be the snapdragon cpu rather than Android 12 giving the improvement.- Liono

These are on the same deal in the UK. I presume these aren't as good as my Sony XBA-Z5s?- Liono

Finally managed to sort out my albums where the Walkman wasn't recognising the ID Tagging... (Sonos and ZX1 would recognise)... I just selected all my FLAC folders in mp3tag and did a bulk select all on all folders, <File>, then <save tag> on about 5000 songs. My WM1AM2 seems to recongnise the...- Liono

Quite enjoying the retro cassette tape animations.. thought they were annoying at first, but given the thought that's gone into selecting each type depending on the music is quite special...- Liono

Had my WM1AM2 since August and put 230 hours on 3.5mm (likely a lot more with apps) and reached 155 hours on 4.4 balanced.. this walkman still surprises me!! Just listening to Pendulum on balanced lead with my XBA-Z5's and the bass response is insane!! Its like I have my lounge BK XXLS400 12...- Liono

I bought my NW-WM1AM2 from E-earphone to UK. You use Tenso or another proxy fowarder. See my instructions: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sony-nw-wm1z-m2-wm1a-m2.962054/post-17088994- Liono

I normally use my 20000mah battery pack as a charger proxy.. in effect minimise ls issue with mains to 5v conversion. Or use wall socket USB sockets. Having had my daughters multi usb mains charger go wrong, l and taken it apart they aren't built very well at all.- Liono

I think paid around 200 in tax, but unit was originally only about £830 when I bought it, so cheaper than a UK unit. Took a little under two weeks, perhaps 10 days to arrive using a proxy forwarding service. Previously in the thread I wrote down details of the method. I'll see if I can find it..- Liono
