The Tomahawk appreciation thread.
Golly Gosh! 14 years on? Decided to dust off and fire up the Tomahawk after all these years - wired into my Shure E500s and listening to some Gentle Giant albums as remixed by Steven Wilson. The clarity of these albums after Mr Wilson has worked his magic on them is amazing. Still a great...- breseler

The Tomahawk appreciation thread.
Still having fun with the Tomahawk. Dug it out recently as I haven't really been listening to much via headphones, and teamed it up with my Grado SR60. Can't believe it's over five years since I bought this amp!....- breseler

A couple of hours with Westone's new 3
I listened to these at MacWorld and I found them very close in sound to the E500 - a friend felt they were more bassy than the E500. They didn't have the final finish on them but if they price them below the E500 then they could be a good option.- breseler

Does custom ear tips improve sound quality of shures E500?
I went for the Westone UM56 tips for my E500s. I took the chance to see if they were as good (and as comfortable) as the foam tips which I prefer to use. I now use the custom tips all the time. As for sound? Well I rate them as being equal to the foam tips. So unless you wish to spend the money...- breseler

E2 foamies: Kind of ROUGH??
Give them a wash - that will soften them (but also will reduce their ability to expand fully). The foam used in the orange E2 foamies is very similar to the foam used in the likes of the EAR foam ear plugs - I have used these for years now (the EARs) so I may be used to the grade of foam...- breseler

IEM & Air Travel (is there aplace in the world for Bose?)
Febs, Depends on your airline. Every time I have flown the cabin crew have insisted that all headphones, your own and the airline supplied ones, are removed. Maybe I draw the short straw and get jobsworths on every flight but I assure you it is done for safety reasons - a)so you can hear any...- breseler

IEM & Air Travel (is there aplace in the world for Bose?)
Bose may get rid of the lows but its the screaming kids and chattering masses I want to get rid off - IEMs do this far better than any active NC phone. Block out ALL the sound. Pressure changes should not be an issue cos you're not allowed to wear any phones during take off and climb to...- breseler
