The Audiophile Bass Lounge (Basshead club part II)
Thanks for the feedback so far. Sweating into over the ear phones doesn't sound like a good idea, so I probably want to stick with IEMs. What do you guys think about the Velodyne Vpulse?- nipponbiki

I think IEM, but has to have a good fit. I hate it when they slowly slip out from each step on a treadmill or each rotation on an elliptical or whatever and lose the seal.- nipponbiki

The Audiophile Bass Lounge (Basshead club part II)
Hey guys, Just wanted to ask for a recommendation. I currently have the setup listed in my signature, which is my main environment I use to listen to music all day while working or messing around on my computer (work at home). But, I wanted a recommendation for something around 50...- nipponbiki

Slightly off-topic, but I would rather ask the lot here. I need something cheap, like 20-50 dollars, just for when I go to the gym to workout. It has to be a dynamic driver, I ruined my pair of E5Cs from sweating and long bouts of cardio. Any recommendations?- nipponbiki

Regarding pads, I went with Beyer velor pads only because they were available on Amazon. In my case, the drivers still rested on my ear causing physical discomfort on my left ear, so even after the pad change, I had to stuff some tissue in there to give me a little more room. If there were...- nipponbiki

Fellow dubstepper here. Definitely get these. Though you need a proper setup which is more than just the phones themselves, these should be your last pair of phones for this kind of music.- nipponbiki

For now. Like I said, I think I would like a thicker pad that gives just 2 or 3 mm distance between ear and driver, but I don't know if such a pad exists. Also, I don't want to keep switching pads for testing purposes. This is sounding pretty sweet right now and without fatigue. Huge bass...- nipponbiki

Oh yes. Chariots of Fire Theme (Vangelis) just came on, and even that song has a nice deep hit that sounds sooooo good on this setup. No fatigue by the way today.- nipponbiki

Another quick update on pads: I am liking the slight change in sound signature. The bass is deeper, more controlled with some of that annoying mid-bass removed. I can turn the volume up loud enough to get neck-massaging bass that does not impact the rest of the frequency spectrum. With current...- nipponbiki

Quick update on pads: actually I don't think these Beyer velors help much with isolation, I can still hear my typing about as loudly as before with the stock pads. That is too bad.- nipponbiki

Hey dude, I just downloaded both versions of this and I am getting the same error message inside the plugin, which is output format not supported. I just did a quick Google search and it seems this is a known bug with Electri-Q, so how did you get it to work?- nipponbiki

Hey guys, I finally received the replacement pads and put them on. It was a bit harder than I thought it would be, and I feel like the fit isn't secure and it will come off sooner or later. There is another guy who tried these Beyer velors and posted pics of the fit. If you read this, can...- nipponbiki

I don't mind paying a reasonable fee for a VST designed for media consumption, say 30 ish? The one that looks really cool with dynamic EQ is like 200 dollars, which is great and probably worth it for producers, but overkill for just listening to music through J River. Is there anything like...- nipponbiki

Stereolab42, Yeah, I know, I downloaded the trial version of Gliss to give some kind of visualization, and then make changes to the built-in PEQ. I just wish there was a reasonably priced VST that was made for something like J River, which is a media player, as those nice but expensive VSTs...- nipponbiki

I read some of the related threads. I use J River Media Center, so that won't work for me, and I don't want to go though Windows anyway. I can reroute everything through J River as well, so Spotify, Youtube, whatever is handled in the same way as my personal collection, except that the PMC to...- nipponbiki

I wish I could visualize the resulting sound curve in J River the way you can with the EQ that you use though, that would help. I also wish I could use dynamic, adaptive EQ without having to buy an expensive VST that is used more for music production too.- nipponbiki

I prefer to cut as much as possible instead of raising everything in some kind of ratio. It is all relative, and you take away from dynamic range for every bit of boost, particularly so with a limiter, or the limits of your amplification and drivers.- nipponbiki

Yeah, I just increased the 25 and 40 HZ filters by 1 dB to +8, added a +2 dB at 50 Hz, and disabled the limiter as I think the amp can handle it. Pretty cool!- nipponbiki
