Welcome to the rapidly growing family
biggrin.gif

I just ordered the sz1000 to go with the 2000.

I want to believe him... but I'll believe my ears...
(ordered them as well... :p)

AMAZING. FINALLY. The SZ1000 has always been a mystery, but that ends now lol THANK YOU

Just received HA-SZ 2000 from Japan. I am really surprised how powerful and revealing they sound straight or off box. Like them more then PM-1 or Edition8 at first listening. Of my amps Headroom home works best, great dynamics and bass. Thanks guys for introducing them to me.

Wow, thank you for joining us. I really hope the SZ gets an official marketing boost if only based on the love it gets from here (with HBB getting cast in the ad that'd be crazy).

Haha, HBB should get the sz1000 for free for all his promotional work he's doing with the sz2000
Can't wait for the comparison as I was luring at the sz1000, but didn't have the balls to try them out (to many tryouts in the last few months

Any chance either of you fellow expats can tell me what that Kanji with 2 stars is??

Got a link to the original? I recommend the Rikaichan plug-in for Firefox for this stuff if the kanji is typed and not in an image.

Sorry I missed that request mate. It means portability, pronunciation is keitaisei.

Thanks to the JVCs i rediscovered an old (2006) but great sounding Kreva Album, i think it was his first solo album after kick the can crew but i'm not too sure. There are some tracks on YouTube but not my fav ones:

Too bad his recent releases don't have that banging bass anymore.
The album Name is: Kreva -  愛・自分博. If you love bass you will enjoy this album. Kick the can Crew also had some great tracks a long time ago.

Another great track for bass:

Quick question for you SZ2000 owners. My SZ2000s are on the way from Japan. Right now all I have is a ASUS Xonar DG soundcard and an Onkyo TX-5000 receiver from 1979.

I have two weeks to find a nice amp.

I think I'll be fine using the DAC in the Xonar- but I'm fairly sure the amp in the Xonar/TX-5000 will not be enough. The TX-5000 drives the **** out of my RP DH1200s, and HAM55x but that's not saying much.

I'm looking for bass that will make me deaf.

I see the E12 pop up all over this thread. I like that the E12 is mobile, and fairly cheap. Does the E12 (850mW, unless I'm looking at the wrong figure) really have enough juice to FULLY power the SZ2000 (spec sheet says it can handle up to 1500mW).. or is there something even better sub $200?

Mobility isn't a must for me but it would be nice to take these on the go. From the videos I saw HBB post, the E12 seems like plenty. Thoughts?

If you get firmer pads like on mine it will be enough to damage your ears

It's the king.

I listen at this level by the way and it will render you without hearing or strong humming noises in your head if you listen for more than 15 minutes
The e12 will do it.

I think that the SZ2000 is quite easy to drive, with only 16 ohms it's very sensitive, and as I said, even straight out of my ipod is nice and loud. I'm expecting the E12 any time now so will be able to give an opinion on that shortly.

Also, this comparison might be useful for you given your budget: http://www.head-fi.org/t/620775/the-sub-200-portable-amps-shootout-13-11-amps-compared

And, as others have said, it really does react excellently to EQ changes. Changes that only sound subtle in most headphones completely transform these ones.

I'm ******* sold then. @intlsubband thanks for the list as well. Wish I had thrown down an extra $30 on shipping for the SZ2000s so I could listen to them NOW!

The E12 is MORE than enough. At least in my EQ settings, the SZ starts distorting On My Level at 60% E12 volume. There's a rare and great deal on the E12 right now for $90: http://slickdeals.net/f/6986812-fiio-products-fiio-x3-portable-music-player-139-fiio-e12-mont-blanc-amplifier-90-free-shipping

Although you have to call Adorama to get the deal since the coupon doesn't work on the website now.

I think the power handling spec isn't about distortion as it is the maximum power it can take without damaging the drivers.

My SZ2k might live to see another day, we're checking with a friend if we can "fix" them (since they're still working, but not all that good). Otherwise, i think i can afford a pair of SZ1k's...

That makes total sense. You rock! Thanks again. I'll be calling them in the AM.
