Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
From Furutech website "... NCF features a special crystalline material that has two ‘active’ properties. First, it generates negative ions that eliminate static. Second, it converts thermal energy into far infrared ..." I wonder how long takes before it runs out of negative charge ? (or do you...- jimmers

Pretty sure the one tested in the link (I thought the wiring adaptor he used might have helped you) http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/HFN/ADC/USBrecording.html was a 1st Gen, 2nd Gen was better and current 3rd Gen better again and has the "air" setting. There are some 2nd Gen still available in my...- jimmers

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Fortunately Amazon in Australia is pretty rubbishy, I think some people put products on there using the idea that - Amazon is the best price - to try and sell stuff at inflated prices. I recently bought something from an Australian ebay store for $27, on Amazon people were trying to sell the...- jimmers

RAAL SR1a don't use a 1/4" headphone jack, so the Jotunheim R doesn't provide one.- jimmers

I did tag Jason in my original post - re the facts, but maybe David Aldrich picked it up for Schiit instead ? :disappointed: Anyhow, the Schiit looks like a good option and maybe if you buy the SR1a and Jotunheim R together you will be able to save on the "Ribbon/Amp Interface" :fingers_crossed:- jimmers

From the link: "The prototype amp Schiit is working on for the RAAL-requisite SR1a Earfieled Headphone Monitor will include a DAC and is said to put out 1000 watts of power" :astonished: DIrect drive into the RAAL SR1a (including cable) would be more like 20 Watts, I reckon. Perhaps...- jimmers

The linked Swissonic Converter AD 24/192 doesn't appear to have a USB output which would make it a poor Jil replacement for recording analog to PCM in a PC. A Focusrite scarlett 2i2 might be a much better bet (cheaper than a Jil and works as a DAC as well).- jimmers

As you say the link refers to older high end Naim DACs, they used the expensive PCM1704 (multibit) DAC chip with a Naim DSP upsampling Filter, the Uniti Nova has the DSP but uses a PCM1792A "advanced segment" DAC (like my STX sound card ) the Uniti Atom uses the lower spec PCM1791A...- jimmers

Paul Rigby? That's the guy who wrote in a USB cable review: "... Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
The RAAL SR1a are very low impedance, a load of 0.2 Ohms (mostly supplied by the cable). To get the necessary current from a normal amplifier it would need to be able to supply 100 W + into the 5.6 Ohm load of their Ribbon/Amp Interface . The amplifier Jason is doing is designed to supply the...- jimmers
