Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@Jason Stoddard So, that new RAAL amp has a different name now? Or the Jot-R is just a placeholder for now? I’m also one of the very curious ones waiting on this amp to drop.

Jotunheim R is the official name. Not super imaginative, but accurate. It's Jotunheim sized and it uses a Jotunheim bottom chassis. A lot of the mech is the same. Just every other part is different, from transformer to outputs, LOL. It's also a Nexus™ amp, unlike Jotunheim, so there are tons of matched parts.

I'm heartened to hear Schiit Audio looking after its employees & nurturing strong internal leadership ("on the line"). Benefits programs and incentive programs work. Full stop.

BINGO.

I'd love to see Mike design an uncompromising delta sigma DAC priced near a Yggy. Might have to move mountains to convince him though.

Why on earth would you even want that?

Put me down for Mike designing an uncompromising TOTL sign-magnitude discrete ladder DAC. ;)

This is a much more simple to have the boards blessed. Your sacrificing a rooster every time you tested a tube must have put a real strain on the male poultry population in North Carolina. Any more of that and you could have to venture into South Carolina and loose your Yankee status.

South Carolina is a different country, and I think my passport is expired. I better check on that. :relaxed:

Why is there vanilla and chocolate?

I think "Why is there Vanilla and Broccoli?" would be a better representation. :D

Now to be fair, I doubt Mike would put uncompromising and Delta Sigma in the same sentence..... But I won't knock you for wanting a Schiit TOTL Delta sigma. It's probably called Gungnir.

Jotunheim R + RAAL's ribbon HP's. Color me interested. At last, something new for me to hear and not just a variation on existing themes. Always luv'd the ribbons in my old Carver Amazing's. Deep bass was the only weak spot beginning at around 100Hz and down or so, Carver solved it with four 12" woofers per side, but that was back around late 90's. Amazing in deed, LOL. My Quad ESL63's were a laser scalpel, the Carver's a machete. Both cut fine.

When faced with the choice of being "one of many" (like another amp in the stat world), or "one of one," I'll always go for the latter.

But "Best of the Best" is also a worthy endeavor especially at Schiit prices, so I'll just sit here quietly and patiently wait for a 300B headphone amp. I'd compromise on a 2A3 design if necessary...anything to help.

Can't wait for the CD Spinner/Coffee Grinder combo. I'll be pairing it with the [redacted] Valhalla 3 HP Amp/Bean Roaster [/redacted].

May I ask what speakers you have hooked up to your Ragnarok 2? I am on the verge of ordering one for my inefficient (4 ohm, 83-86db) speakers.
I used my Ragnarok 2 with the ELAC BS 403 (min. 3.2 ohm, 86 dB), Magnepan LRS (4 ohm, 86 dB) and Wharfedale EVO 4.4 (min. 4.3 ohm, 89 dB) and it works great with all of them. Sounds more refined than a single Vidar. I actually didn't like the EVO 4.4 with the Vidar, but they are my favorite of the three with the Ragnarok 2.

Yggdrasil A2 balanced as the source, low gain, 3 o'clock is usually quite loud, with some material I have to go higher, but never maxed out. Useable volume starts at 12 o'clock or so.

Only triggered protection once with a test file that deliberately skipped the bottom half of the wave form - I imagine that triggered a DC offset detection. :)

Runs cool to luke warm, too. Great speaker amp!
