Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Please don't comment without knowing what the heck you are talking about. The Ipod classic rockbox install is completely different than the normal way to install rockbox. It will wipe the ipod completely. http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/Main_Page ...- deviationer

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
status update: On my first charge with rockbox I got about 12hrs of playing FLAC files. With the stock firmware/OS I get about 16-18hrs of playing ALAC files. Recharging seams to take about the same time as with the stock firmware/OS.- deviationer

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
So I took the plunge and rockboxed my ipod 6G rev2 160GB. WOW! A major jump in audio quality! A ton of option to play with too and actual EQ.- deviationer

Bi-annual Stumptown (Portland Oregon) meet...February 27th, 2011
Oh hell yes! So, will 32 Ohm Audio be hosting the event again? Also, we now have a local custom IEM company: http://www.1964ears.com/ http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/519457/has-anyone-heard-of-1964-ears I still plan on getting the JH-16's some day. -
Cowon X7 this summer!
Finally something that is not apple, flac support, and 160GB. The only bad thing is I personally have, so far, 350GB of FLAC albums and I really want to be able to have all of them with me. It's nuts there still isn't a 500GB PMP yet. the X7 should be at $250 or less street price...- deviationer

Best value in Custom?
Quote: +1 Get them as your first custom, then buy the JH-16's later if you feel you want even more uberness. Even better, find a place that has the demo units of the JH-5/10/10x3/13/16 etc and try them out.- deviationer

Is an Audiologist mold impression worth the money versus do-it-yourself?
If you want to go DIY, then do so: http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/foimkit.html I used that kit for my remold and it worked great. You do need a helper and you need to make sure you go deep enough with the impression material. Although you could do it without a helper but it...- deviationer

Hearyourself.com custom IEM discussion thread
After demoing the JH-5's (and along with the JH-13 and JH-10x3) at the last Portland Head-Fi meet I would not recommand any of the AlienEars or Livewires products. AlienEars started out with decent customer service but has since gone downhill. You have to call to get anyone to do anything, and...- deviationer

Most overrated headphones?
Any open headphones I'd rather not hear the environment I'm in when I'm listening to music/gaming/movies. I tried the HD600/650, thunderpants,LCD2, Grado SR60, DT990, (I think) beyer T1, and a couple other high end headphones at the last Portland, OR meet. Nothing wowed me. I still like...- deviationer

Wall Street Journal promotes custom IEM!
Promotes custom mold tips, not custom IEM. For another $120+impression cost said person could get the JH-5's.- deviationer

the jerry harvey truth
Either your a shill or a troll, either way, I'm pretty sure you are wrong. Even if you are right, JH and UE's customs are well worth the money. I have AlienEars customs and after demoing the JH-5 recently I should have gone with JH. I also demo'd the 13's and 10x3 at the same time and the...- deviationer

Stumptown Head-Fi Meet FTW!
First head-fi meet also here. I was quite overwhelmed with all the headphones and gear. I tried a number of headphones and I'm happy to say that I don't plan on "upgrading" from my DT 770 anytime soon. For the first time I got to try out a tube amp, actually 3 of them. The large black one with... -

DT770 80 ohm Amp Recommendations
I can say the PA2v2 works great with the DT770's. I used my ipod+LOD+PA2V2+DT770 at work for about a year and everything sounded great. With the PA2V2 you have to use rechargble AA batteries because normal AA screws with the amp and makes it sound bad.- deviationer

Jays Q-jay support is terrible
Quote: I stopped reading there. There is no issue here, they are out of warranty. Rarely does a company support out of warranty products. If they do it's for a steep fee and it would better just to buy a new one or buy something from a different company.- deviationer

Portland Oregon Meet, Summer 2010
Quote: (my post had a typo, aren't super expensive, instead of are) Thanks but those are way to pricy. Sorry but I'm not into spending insane amounts of money just on cables for any purpose. I think the Null Audio Lune cable would be my max, but even then I'm not sure if it would...- deviationer

Portland Oregon Meet, Summer 2010
Soooooo. Who's bringing what? I can bring my DT770's that have the black gel pads and my Fiio E1 and PA2V2. I'm more the budget head-fi'er than the one than can spend the $$$$$$ on headphones and uber tube amps. Altought I do have "budget" custom IEM but it's not like they...- deviationer
