Minimal Radiohead
This is spectacular- I like how you hint at the Radiohead arrangement but never really follow, but still communicate the whole song... As was said before, I could listen to music like this forever. Would you have any other recommendations of more solo piano music like this? (Besides Pärt)... -
Car accidents Suck thread
Try reseating the processor, if it's not an incredible pain to get the heatsink off. That happened to me once, and it turned out I had just jostled it and somehow (don't ask me how) the processor got disconnected.- Ikrit42

Switchbox build (noob)
I'm pretty sure you want a non-shorting switch, one that breaks the contact before making the new one. (Shorting switches "make before break".) You want two 3-pole (4 if you're going balanced), "2-position" rotary switches, one to select the input and one for the output. I would say get...- Ikrit42

need some help with making an amp
My recommendation, as a fellow newbie in the world of EE: Get this book, and read it. It will teach you most of what you would need to know to build/design yourself an amp. I'm just getting to the point where I'd like to start designing my own circuits, and I've done a couple custom layout...- Ikrit42

Pimeta DC offset volts ??
Wouldn't DC at the inputs cause the voltage to vary proportionally to the volume, rather than inversely? Higher volume on the pot = lower pot resistance, so less voltage dropped, right? (Unless I'm being completely stupid about this... quite possible.)- Ikrit42

Be careful when ordering parts!
Actually, there is a rational explanation. What happens is that you get all the part numbers that contain that string of numbers. If you input ABC123, you would also get XYZAB-C123, ABC-1234K, and 12GHA-BC123. So you probably put in xxx-221, and got xxx-221K I always check a couple...- Ikrit42

Most recognizable Opening SECOND of any song?
Well, "Help!" for one. (In the Beatles theme) For me, probably all of Led Zeppelin 1, maybe Dazed & Confused or Good Times, Bad Times in particular. Any of them really, though. -
Unrippable CDs?
I've got the same problem with Krishna Das' Live on Earth... my desktop CD drive just plain doesn't recognize it. It's not an autorun problem or anything, it just plain doesn't think there's a CD there. Really annoying. -
PCB Drawing
I'll add to the agreement... I designed my own Cmoy board with Eagle, the first version was terrible, then I learned and it came out fine. Do an Eagle tutorial, definitely.- Ikrit42

Destroy my iBuds contest!
I'll post pics next week when I get around to it... But here's the idea. A couple weeks ago Hembergler and I built a potato cannon. I don't think I need to say much more.- Ikrit42

Adopting a Kitten?
Cats are wonderful. I've had at least one my whole life. Getting a kitten is a great idea, just be warned that they're even pointier than when they're grown up. Their claws are smaller (sharper) and they don't know how (not) to use them... Still totally worth it.- Ikrit42

Which iron do you use?
I've been using a Weller WP-25 for a while, plus I also got the Hakko 599B metal-shavings cleaner thing. Works wonders.- Ikrit42

Looking for Stylish Mid-Range Circumaural Headphones
I'd say Grado SR-60/80 or Allessandro MS-1s. They're sort of retro-cool, with little antenna-ish things... I like the look, but I know that some don't. http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/im.p...ssandroMS1.jpg- Ikrit42

Ricochet from a 50 cal sniper rifle...
I know (of) a kid near me who shot a magnum (not sure what kind) at a tin can on a metal pole, and had his arm grazed by the ricochet. Six inches to the side and he'd be DEAD.- Ikrit42

Right now I'm on the second book on Tad Williams' Otherland series- excellent stuff. I'm also in the midst of Freakonomics by Stephen Levitts, which I'm reading for school.- Ikrit42

Best DIY home amp around 100USD basic 125ish with mods that help SQ big difference
I'd definitely get in on the Millett Hybrid Max group buy- I built my old-style Millett Hybrid about two weeks before Cetoole started showing his off, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I'd build one for sure, but I don't have another $150 to spend right now. MHs aren't...- Ikrit42

How to build a simple Cmoy amp under $50.
It depends entirely on where in the circuit you hook up your led, and how you hook up the batteries (i.e. series vs. parallel). If you follow Tangent's guide, it'll probably get the full 18 Volts.- Ikrit42

Cmoy Spoiled
In schematics, the negative-marked/striped side of polar electrolytic caps is the curved side of the symbol, which is also the direction that conventional current will flow. That is to say, electrons build up on the negative/striped side of the capacitor, and "positive charges" (which don't...- Ikrit42
