Help!!! alternative closed headphones that sound like the fantastic Beyer DT1350
It's a tough order finding something that sounds as good in a closed circumaural headphone, as the supra aural on-ear DT1350 is one of the flattest, tightest, most dynamic, and most resolving headphones. Takes a little while for the pads to warm up on you to seal properly, and they're not...- Reticuli2

The Koss ESP950 thread (ESP owners, please contribute! :)
Does it occur even when the source is turned off but the E/90 is still on? That happened to mine I had way back that Tyll first measured before I returned it to Amazon. The E/90 apparently measures comparable to a Stax SRM-323 amp, but the issue is the quality and durability of mostly the...- Reticuli2

Are Binaural Recordings now called by some other name?
Are Binaural Recordings now called by some other name? Considering the amount of binaural beats garbage there is on streaming services, are binaural dummy head recordings or even DSP-based HRTF productions under some different name or heading now to differentiate themselves from the annoying... -
Using a headphone amp as a preamp ok?
I notice this with both the teeny tiny in-line Fiio & O2 headphone amps I have if I place them while in zero-gain buffer mode between a beefy mixer headphone jack and an electrostatic amp. The Fiio is sweet & has almost binaural-like imaging, while the O2 is extremely layered, punchy, and...- Reticuli2

Best closed 'utility' can for headphone-only DJ mixing at home? At any price.
Because I have hearing damage and post-COVID sequelae tinnitus, and need as high fidelity as I can get. I was trying to get very high end headphone-only DJ mixing sound before those issues occurred, though, but I pursued that using open and IEM solutions previously. This isn't for live use...- Reticuli2

Best closed 'utility' can for headphone-only DJ mixing at home? At any price.
Thanks, but I already own both HD25s and two Ortofon-branded & Ultrasone-built headphones, and 20+ years of these types of headphones (Sony, Beyerdynamic, Fostex, KRK, Koss, and on and on), as well as audiophile open headphones and IEMs. Not interested in more mid-fi studio or DJ headphones. I...- Reticuli2

Best closed 'utility' can for headphone-only DJ mixing at home? At any price.
...I'm liable to choose the cheaper of the two, unless the more expensive one just so happens to also be more pleasing-sounding, I suppose. I'm not *against* the headphone secondarily having a recreational purpose. Thanks. P.S. Headphone-only by-ear DJing without using speakers. Oh, and the...- Reticuli2

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
Are you guys sure it's the earphones that change their sound after an hour and not the E90? I remember actually preferring the sound for monitoring when it was first turned on, and then found them to sound more conventional after an hour or two of being left on. This seemed to occur...- Reticuli2

Looking for a Stax-compatible headset that has more treble, less and tighter bass, and is faster sounding than the SR-207
Looking for a Stax-compatible headset that has more treble, less and tighter bass, and is faster sounding than the 207. I like the SR-207 a lot, especially for casual listening with or without tubes, but it doesn't resolve layers and details or transients with the best when things get...- Reticuli2

MiniDSP HA-DSP Discussion and Impressions
Can a delay be set on this MiniDSP HA-DSP while using an analog line input? If so, what are they priced at? I would actually consider one without the headphone amp if it meant I could use my own outboard headphone amp, of which I have several.- Reticuli2

MQA.... Scam or not?
Probably your amps or drivers are poorly performing in the presence of ultrasonic information (real info or noise) and/or you happen to like the sound of aliasing reflections and/or you and your gear can't differentiate. The measurements are irrefutable. It's a scam. The Tidal implementation...- Reticuli2

Could interface headphone jack damage headphone drivers?
I might have done that (unplugged or plugged in with volume up some) with those headphones, but I just as likely am to do that on external headphone amps and the headphones I've only ever used on external amps don't seem to have become unbalanced. None of the headphone amps or either interface...- Reticuli2

Could interface headphone jack damage headphone drivers?
Anyone ever heard of or experience headphone jacks of USB audio interfaces seeming to over time degrade or damage one driver or the other when it's left plugged in? E-MU 0204 USB: Damn, They've Done it Again! And for $129!!!
Sorry, I don't know anything about direct mode on a Mac. On a Windows 7 machine, though, going between VLC and Chrome I have to frequently disable/enable the 0204 in Sound Devices after it stops functioning, though. Seems like some kind of bug.- Reticuli2

The Entry Level Stax Thread
Can you mess something up on the SRM-252S if you briefly plug a line-level input into one of the parallel outputs? What might the symptoms be of damage? I seem to prefer sealed to open headphones, even in a quiet room
The euro wart the Stax came with has one of these two-pin changeable barrel connectors on the end. So if you find any appropriate linear regulated warts with fixed voltage and the changeable ends, let me know since I already have the correct end for it. I did read, though, that the 252S has a...- Reticuli2

Their response: Hello, This power supply is unregulated, so it doesn’t have a voltage regulator. When you applied load, the voltage will drop to the rated voltage of 12VDC. Thanks, So, good info or bad info?- Reticuli2
