Thread to "Big up" those "Hidden Gem" albums
There are a few threads asking for "specialist" music, but I've noticed there isn't a general one. This thread is for making people aware of albums, that you may think are unique or just plain unheard of. Any albums are welcome as long as a brief description is given as to why you think...- Pageygeeza

Balanced headphone amp with DAC, Community project perhaps?
A short while ago I thought of the idea of isolating the send and return feeds through an headphone amplifier. After some discussions, I found out this was how balanced amplifiers work. This then led me to another obstacle: How can you turn a non-balanced source to a balanced one? Basically...- Pageygeeza

Audio voltages in relation to audio
I've hunted around for a definite answer but haven't got anywhere, hopefully someone nice will be able to help me. I may get flamed for this, but I just can't figure it out. Basically I need to know how the current flows to/from a speaker. I know that if there is no current flowing to the...- Pageygeeza

Headphone Amplifier Configurations
I know this isn't an easy question to answer, but......... There are so many features and parts to so many different headphone amplifiers that I feel it gets a little overwhelming for newcomers to actually design their own amplifiers. I'm aware of a couple of the features/parts are on...- Pageygeeza

Mini3 + RB'd Sansa Clip Plus = Hifiman killer?
Before I get shot down, consider this. Strip a Sansa Clip Plus, put it in the same box as the mini 3. Directly connect the DAP to the amp, re-arrange the buttons and allow the screen to be seen. Remove the volume control from the amp and just use the volume from the DAP. Power wise, share the...- Pageygeeza

New iPod lod enclosure
Sounds a bit strange doesn't it? Well, not really once I've explained this. I've noticed if you want to make a custom iPod lod, you have to hack away at a lot of stuff to get it to work properly. I had a brilliant brainwave today to be able to make your custom lod, but without hacking the plug...- Pageygeeza

iTunes has cleared id3 tags, how do I get them back!?
I really have no idea how this has happened, I've just encoded over 400 CD's over the last month. Today I was backing up all my iTunes music to an external HDD and noticed the id3 tags have been stripped from the mp3's. I thought it might have been a glitch and it was to do with how it copied...- Pageygeeza

Optical Drive Information
Right, where to begin. Found out an old external DRX-800UL a short while back and it worked ok, couldn't get firewire to work, but I thought that was just a driver issue. Yesterday and today it started giving me a lot of bother, so I thought i'd open her up again and give it a blast with a...- Pageygeeza

iTunes won't reset delete file dialog
I'm really hoping someone can help out with this. If I've posted in the section, sorry. If you delete a song from iTunes you would normally get the dialog asking if you want to delete the physical file. In the past I never did and ticked the "never ask me again" box, but now I have to replace...- Pageygeeza

Power switches for portable headphone amps
Are there any major benefits to having the power switch on the volume pot? I can't find many in the UK. Would having a normal switch cause power surges if headphones are/aren't plugged in or the volume is up loud?- Pageygeeza

Hi peeps, I've posted on here a few times already, but now I'm after some information that's been bugging me ever since I found out about "Cmoys". Found a great use for socks
I was originally looking for something to stick my iPod and CmoyBB into and was looking at bands, but ordering them seems too much hassle. So I thought about the original iPod socks, but they are a major rip-off. Then I had the brainwave of using kids socks, (the liner ones that stop at the...- Pageygeeza

Need help deciding what DIY headphone amp will suit my needs.
I really want to build myself a reasonable headphone amp. I've looked at cmoy/chu moy/mini3 and this. I'm leaning more towards the latter, but the chars for the cap components are messed up. The 'phones I will be driving are Sennheiser PX200/Shure E110/panasonic RP-HTX7 and maybe my Phillips SBC...- Pageygeeza

Which is best: Koss Pro4aat or Sony Mdr-v6?
I've been looking around for some decent closed backed retro looking headphones and have happened to have stumbled across these two. I'm in the UK and have found the most expensive to be £70GBP. Basically they'll be used on various sources like my 80gb iPod, Aiwa Nsx360 and laptop, so they'd...- Pageygeeza
