Just found this. Don't know if anyone has ever heard of it? Maybe you might be able to get an iPod to play FLAC's?

many ipods can be rockboxed which will allow them to play FLAC.

furthermore, any iPod touch runs unix, which can obviously play FLAC.

I am not sure you realize just what that is.
It's a development kit to make Accessories.. like an FM transmitter or receiver.
It wouldn't have anything to do with FLAC...
