REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
I was also getting a terrible crackling on volume change; wonder if there is some design flaw that allows this to happen more easily than it should. I ended up solving mine with Deoxit Cleaner (amazon.com/gp/product/B00C6BTQVA)- coolbluesurface

Recommend power cable <$150
Interesting, thanks for the note. Yeah I will probably try them both. I went for the Pangea AC14SE for now, but plan to buy several AC9 for my speakers. I'll also try the AC9 on my DAC to see if it makes a difference from the 14SE. However, I'm a little hesitant about the diameter of the AC9. ... -
REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
My Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11 arrived today. So far I have not found any of my tubes via Tube Out to give as high a quality of sound as I enjoy from the Line Out, but I understand that I may need to give each tube time to warm up to full potential over a few days. Does anyone else have a...- coolbluesurface

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Yes, I actually bought several tubes based on your guys' forum posts at ak, including the Voskhod rocket and Zaerix :) Can someone please send me the "TubeDAC-11 tube rolling spreadsheet" via PM on head-fi? (audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=439184) When I click the download link at ak I...- coolbluesurface

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Any thoughts on the TubeDAC-11 tube-out and headphone-out for use with headphones Hifiman HE-4 or HE-500? Not sure if either would be appropriate without an additional headphone amp? Also, any experience with Herbie's Audio Labs UltraSonic Rx-9 tube damper...- coolbluesurface

Cool, thanks for the links. I'm a confused about which type of cable is best suited for the Grant Fidelity TubeDac-11, since it has both DAC and amp functionality, but I assume either will help. -
Recommend power cable <$150
I will probably just start with the Pangea AC-14SE (http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PGAC14SE&variation=2) or Pangea AC9 (http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PGAC9&variation=2) for now. Then I'll also keep an eye out for good deals on even better cables in used... -

Thanks for your input. I'll also look through the site at thecableco.com that you linked to, and its affiliated site usedcable.com. -

Any opinions about the Audioquest NRG-X3 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055ONLZC), for upgrading from a stock power cable, versus the PC-1.5 cable from Grant Fidelity (http://shop.grantfidelity.com/PC-1-5-Performance-Power-Cord.html)? I tried asking at...- coolbluesurface

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Thanks for the great thread! I'm looking forward to receiving the Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11 that I recently bought 'lightly used' from a head-fier (http://www.head-fi.org/t/656671). I had absolutely zero knowledge about tubes in general, or how to find the ones that would work with this...- coolbluesurface

Tea-Fi?
Any recommendations on good but affordable Yixing tea pots and cups? Or is there a better type than that for long-term use and 'heirloom' quality? I was considering Adagio's (http://www.adagio.com/teaware/dalian_teapot.html), but a quick google search revealed this negative feedback...- coolbluesurface

Five hrs sleep in the past two days...
I have intended for a long time (it has been years :p ) to come back to this thread to say how much I appreciate the recommendation of the "Be Still & Know" meditation program. I have listened to it hundreds or maybe thousands of times, and recommend it to all my friends. I was not as thrilled...- coolbluesurface

If you thought some headphones were big...
"The true disconnect here is that even though your point MAY be valid, your original post here was offensive and rude to the OP." I agree... but I'm not offended; everyone has a right to their opinion. You see, I'm very "well adjusted" when it comes to living with irritation and rudeness in...- coolbluesurface

If you thought some headphones were big...
Sovkiller- yeah, I imagine there is plenty of space in these cups for any kind of headphone speakers. The HD280s claim -32db isolation, but these (which claim -33db) are far more isolating. And they are comfortable.- coolbluesurface

If you thought some headphones were big...
Thanks Superpredator. Will75- yes they are working great, except that my main irritant is low-frequency noises like slamming doors and foot stomping. According to the documentation, these reduce 150Hz noises at only 15db, and probably less at even lower frequencies. But I also bought some...- coolbluesurface

If you thought some headphones were big...
PNE: Hahah- well therapy is what- $100/hr? These earmuffs were only $40 and should last years I won't wear these while sleeping- for that, I bought ear plugs and an alarm clock with a vibrating pad that goes under my pillow. Seriously, I've been living in ghetto apartments for 10 years...- coolbluesurface

If you thought some headphones were big...
If you thought some headphones were big and ridiculous looking... check out these noise-reducing "ear muffs" I bought. I got them because I live in an apartment and I'm tired of hearing every footstep and slammed door of my neighbors. It reduces external noise by up to 33db, but I sure look...- coolbluesurface

Ask for a sign-on bonus with job offer?
Thanks for any expert advice on whether and how to ask for a hiring bonus or other contractual agreements on a job offer. I am 31 and graduating with a B.S. Cowon D2 vs. Meizu M6
Looks like the Meizu M6 is now down to $99 at Walgreens online. Could just be a temporary sale though. My first impression of seeing the pic at Walgreens is that it looks like a Creative Zen Vision knockoff. But I guess the Cowon D2 is kindof a ripoff of the iRiver Clix, huh. I'm hoping...- coolbluesurface
