Those are both wonderful specimans. Could you tell us what the woods/ colors are? As for the difference in appearance of the Mg vs. Al chassis, would you say that the Mg has a darker, more intense sheen?- stevehecht

Thanks goldberger. I just purchased an AC with Mg chassis from Junglebook3 here on HF. So I know it's magnesium, and black. Can anyone point me to a photo of the Al chassis, just out of curiosity?- stevehecht

I'm having trouble figuring out how the magnesium chassis differs in appearance from the aluminum chassis, if there's indeed a difference. I haven't been able to find any photos identified as showing the aluminum. Thanks in advance!- stevehecht

Schiit Jotunheim 2 - Impressions Thread
Thanks for the input! I'm using a wide range of HPs with this desktop rig...ZMF Aeolus, LCD3 (pre-fazor), HD6xx, Sundara, ATH-D900. My desktop spatial environment is very limited, which is why I got the built-in dac card with the Jot. I just don't have space to use the Vali2++ for a dac with the...- stevehecht

Schiit Jotunheim 2 - Impressions Thread
I'm about to pull the trigger on the Jot2 w/Delta Sigma DAC module included. I literally don't have any extra space for an exterior DAC...except for the FiiO E10K I've been using with my desktop HPs. I'm about to return the new Vali2++ I just purchased (in favor of the Jot2) because an...- stevehecht

Violectric V222 and V202
I've got my gain switches on +12 while using a Rega Elicit amp/Ares II DAC. I use ZMF Eikon, VC, Aeolus & HFM HE-500 headphones. I'm a bit surprised I needed to put the V281 at +12. I keep the dial of the V281 at 12:30. I know it doesn't harm anything, but does anyone else run their unit at +12?- stevehecht

The (Un)Official Amp Thread For ZMF Headphones
It occurs to me that this critical discussion of the place and value of empirical measurements in the audio world can be broadened in scope to the culture at large. I think we are all aware of a certain hubris associated with the position that scientific measurement is somehow more valid and...- stevehecht

FYI, a second typo two lines down from the first has also been corrected in the brochure revision: "Headphone outputs: 1 x Pentaconn, bal., 1 x 4-pin XLR, bal., 1 x ¼” jack, unbal." (Should be "Headphone outputs: 1 x Pentaconn, unbal., 1 x 4-pin XLR, bal., 1 x ¼” jack, unbal.)- stevehecht

Comment by 'stevehecht' on listing 'SOLD 12ATubes & Adapters'
I just tested the two sets of tubes. The 7730 sounds really primo, but one of the Genalex ECC81 is defective. I switched channels on my amp and the static on the cans switched too. I agree that the $155 is still a decent price for the Raytheon but FYI. I'll look around for another Genalex and...- stevehecht

Although I'm not an experienced reviewer as is KutuzovGambit, I will do my best to chime in on the comparison with the Isabellae once I receive the Serial. Like Mr. Gambit I am in love with Isabellae! I've also ordered the Totem adapter so I'll try to do a dual A/B comparison with/out the Totem...- stevehecht

These are called "standard" (at least on Amazon.com) or 'regular' or 'original' in order to distinguish them from the Sedna Earfit Light which uses a more flexible, softer silicon material. I will be receiving the S and SS sizes of the Standard with the long nozzle stem (the Short has a shorter...- stevehecht

The Azla Sedna Earfit Regulars have a firm build and the diameter of the cylinder is aimed at fitting 5.4>7.2mm nozzles so they are on the wide side. The Lights are made of thinner material and constructed to fit 4.5>6.7mm nozzles so I'll try those with the Serial and the Isabellae. I'm staying...- stevehecht

Because of Parkinson's Disease I no longer have the manual dexterity to get most tips onto nozzles. As of now the only tips I can successfully manipulate onto the wide nozzles of the Oriolus Isabellae are the Spinfits CP155 because of the wide diameter of the cylinder column (5.5mm) and its...- stevehecht
