IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
I ended up going with the Sony MDR-EX310. The EX71 served me well so I figured I'd give Sony another shot. I'll report back with my results.- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
All of them (DT770s) may be on the + side rather than the - side but I believe there is a difference between the versions from what I've read, and based on my comparison to other headphones Sony MDR-V6, AKG 240, Denon D2000, UE Super.fi 3, Sony MDR-EX71 and the speakers I've heard. Anyway...- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
There are several versions of DT700, I believe the "Pro" version (which I have not heard) is bass heavy the consumer 250ohm (what I own) and 600ohm are pretty neutral, definitely not bloated (Headroom's measurements pretty much show the same). The MDR-V6, are pretty flat, they have some mid...- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
Alright, I'll take a look at the PL50 again, I'll also take a look your recommendations ZARMIN. As far as tonality I prefer a pretty flat response, which I consider my Byer DT770, and Sony MDR-V6 to be, the EX71 definitely had a pretty heavy bottom end. Though I think a slightly boosted...- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
I've been using the Super.fi 3s every day now for over a week and I've gotten them to stay sealed for the most part (they no longer sound like clock radio after 2 mins of riding) but the bulky cord is still pretty annoying. The other issue I'm finding is that they seem very light on...- Operandi

Klipsch Image S4?
Quote: Just to be clear by bike I meant road bike and mountain bike when I commute to work (I won't be using them mountain biking). Isolation isn't really that big of deal, I tend try to stick to low traffic routes whenever possible and its good to hear traffic coming up on...- Operandi

Klipsch Image S4?
Would these work out well on a bike? I'd like the replace my dead Sony MDR-EX71 which while had flaws flawed were very comfortable and stayed put. I also have UE Super fi.3 they are bulky and just don't stay sealed for very long so I'd like something a bit easier to live with than the...- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
Currently I'm looking at the Klipsch Image S4 as a possible candidate. The look bigger than the EX71s for sure but smaller than the UE Super fi.3, and with a much more manageable (less bulky and more flexible) cord. Anyone have any experience with these...- Operandi

IEMs for on the Bike w/ iPod Nano (1ist gen)
I had been using some cheap Sony MDR-EX71 that finally died. In the mean time I've been using my UE Super.fi 3 (actually Altec Lansing's version) but they are too bulky (particularly the cable) to use on the bike when I commute to work and long road rides so I need something smaller along the...- Operandi

Building Interconects with Mogami 2893
Yeah, I wasn't sure about that link, the Techni-Tool site is a odd but that appears to be the exact same stripper so thats probably what I'll go with. I'll trust your advice on the wire. I've done fair amount of soldering, building crossovers and replacing some PC board components but never...- Operandi

Building Interconects with Mogami 2893
On the advice some of members awhile ago I bought some Mogami 2893 wire to build some interconnects. I wanted some nice wire that was flexible and it certainly seems to be great wire and very flexible however I was surprised how small the 26 AWG wires are. So... 1. I will need new...- Operandi

Bookshelf/Computer Speakers
Full range drivers at the prices most are willing to deal have too many compromises in my opinion. And given the simplicity of 99% of the full range designs (no corssover) you might as well higher a cabinet maker and build you own, it would still be cheaper.- Operandi

Bookshelf/Computer Speakers
A MTM configured speaker (mid, tweeter, mid) won't really do much for you nearfield in a computer enviroment so I would sugest a smaller MT (mid, tweeter) like the Tsi 100 vs. the Tsi 200. I do have my doubts about how good the Tsi series really is. If you could make the jump to the RTi...- Operandi

Swan Audio
Swan / Hi-Vi make some pretty impressive stuff, they just don't seem to have made much market penetration. I'm sure these would be on another level up on any Logitech.- Operandi

Can't hear difference between Klipsch Promedia and Audioengine A5
I have heard them and they are by no means bad but I was no overly impressed with them either, pretty average really. At any rate they still suffer the typical "multimedia speaker" short comings. It seems to get around them you are left with monitors or perhaps building your own 2.1 system.- Operandi

Can't hear difference between Klipsch Promedia and Audioengine A5
It should be a night and day difference, if its not that's not saying much for the A5s. Being a 3" "woofer" on the Pro Media to the 5 1/4 on the A5s the lower mid range distortion should be much much better on the A5s. This should come through on pretty much any instrument or vocal heavy...- Operandi

Advice on AudioEngine A5 Computer Setup
Well like I said the difference between "good" amps is usually pretty subtle. More power will let you go louder before distortion creeps in (or worse clipping) and better bass reproduction where the speaker impedance drops (high current draw) but at moderate volumes a more powerful (all things...- Operandi

Advice on AudioEngine A5 Computer Setup
Yeah we meant to do a head to head comparison to really hear all the differences in the speakers but never got around to it. Both are good speakers and I think the major differences are due to how they are voiced in the crossover which made the TriTrix sound more engaging on good recordings but...- Operandi

Advice on AudioEngine A5 Computer Setup
Interesting comparison it seems like the KEFs are probably the better and more accurate speaker. Not surprising considering the A5s cost, and the fact they include the amps. A friend of mine has the iQ3s which I think is the previous model to the iQ30s but seems to be nearly the same...- Operandi

Computer Stereo Setup
It would be a negligible difference if you could hear it at all. I would spend your $400 on better speakers. $400 will go frailly far in DIY and kits, these for example would be big step up from your Paradigms. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=302-967- Operandi

Good speakers + no dac OR Decent speakers + usb dac
Quote: No problem. I haven't heard those particular speakers but I've heard other DIY designs in that class and the design is really well regarded (which is why the made a kit out of it) so I'm its excellent. Make sure you created a thread if you build them! Dayton also...- Operandi

Good speakers + no dac OR Decent speakers + usb dac
The transducers (speakers / headphones) are responsible for the vast majority of the distortion so as others have suggested spend the money on the speakers now, worry about a DAC later. This might be streaching your budget a bit since you will need an amp but check out this Dayton kit...- Operandi

So I need a good sound card (for music, mainly)
It would cost a bit more but a mid range DAC / amp combo would make more sense to me. Maybe something like a nuForce Icon, or Firestone Fubar.- Operandi
