Apple - Wrong product delivered, no Apple packaging, iPod in a plastic bag!
Just an update - I received the replacement iPod today. It's quite attractive. As I said before, I got the 30GB video iPod in black. My portable/commuting system is coming together! On a really positive note, fellow Head-Fi member and longtime friend Doug (ServingInEcuador) offered to give...- Hajime

Chicago people look here please!
Howdy! I lived next to Columbia last year. It's a decent area. Just be smart. During the day, you're perfectly safe. At night, try not to walk alone. You should be fine. Are you going to take the bus from the station, or will you walk every morning?- Hajime

Apple - Wrong product delivered, no Apple packaging, iPod in a plastic bag!
Guys, Apple came through for me. Last night, I emailed Steve Jobs in an attempt to resolve the situation. Today, an Apple representative called me in regards to the situation. He stated that he had been investigating and had narrowed it down to the FedEx center. Apparently, as many of you...- Hajime

Apple - Wrong product delivered, no Apple packaging, iPod in a plastic bag!
I'm sharing this story because it makes me unbelievably angry. By sharing it, I hope to work out some of that anger. I ordered a new iMac as part of Apple's back to school program. The promotion allowed me to purchase an iPod 30Gb Video for $50 after the rebate. I went along with it and...- Hajime

Advice: iPod Nano or full-sized iPod Video?
I went with the full size 30GB iPod. It was $50. I'm happy with my decision. Now I need to find a case that doesn't add any size.- Hajime

I hate it when they say "Attempted delivery" when in fact they did NOT

The "dirty little secrets about your work" thread
Don't eat the cookies or drink the coffee that is set out for customers. I have never cleaned the coffee pot - there's simply no sink to do it in other than the bathroom sink. I do try to rinse it out when I am the one putting coffee out for the customers. The water for the coffee comes from the...- Hajime

SR-60 crushes e4c
Ghingus, I don't find my Grado SR-60's to be particularly detailed. Did you end up selling your Shures because of this, or have you kept them for your other merits?- Hajime

Shure SE210 or E4 - Where to buy?
I have the option of purchasing either a Shure SE210 or a Shure E4 for roughly the same price. Which would be better for classical music and opera? Is there much difference? Thank you for your opinions and advice.- Hajime

Earphones for commuting - Westone, Etymotic, Jays, or Shure?
Jorge from Headroom recommended the D-Jays and Shure SE210's. I'm not sure which to pick. I'm tempted to go with the D-Jays due to the lower price, but the Shure brand name is better known.- Hajime

Earphones for commuting - Westone, Etymotic, Jays, or Shure?
LaBrea, Thank you for the detailed analysis! I really like the description of the Etys, but the filters are a deal-breaker for me. They seem like a poor design choice. b7nguyen, All of the Ety's have filters, right? Too bad! Just an update: I emailed three companies I have dealt...- Hajime

Which of these open cans would you recommend?
I've listened to all of these except for the Audio Technica model. Out of them, I personally bought the AKG K401's. The 240s and the DT531 were nothing special. I like the K401's and 501's a lot for the type of music I listen to: classical, vocal, choral, acoustic. They may not be the best for...- Hajime

Earphones for commuting - Westone, Etymotic, Jays, or Shure?
The ER-6i's look like winners in terms of sound, but not function. My concern is that they are not as comfortable or durable as the alternatives. The design of the newer Shures, Jays, etc. seems better: no filters or earbuds that need replacement. I'd like earphones that I can insert without...- Hajime

Earphones for commuting - Westone, Etymotic, Jays, or Shure?
Dunbar, Aha! Another CTA rider. I take the CTA to work and back every day. I like the look of the ER4's, but for a portable setup I am not willing to spend more than ~$100. That is why I was looking at the more budget-minded headphones. Are the ETY 6i's that much worse? How do the UM1's...- Hajime
