http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/25/13478643-astronaut-neil-young-first-man-to-walk-on-moon-dies-at-age-82?lite I remember the first Moon landing like it was yesterday. I feel old. I just noticed the link says Neil Young, not Neil Armstrong. That article is about Neil...- beerguy0

Gah! Mini^3 battery too big to fit in case. Anyone else seen this?
I just finished building the Mini^3 this morning, and when I went to assemble the PWB into the Hammond case, the battery is too thick to fit. (Tenergy 250 mAh Ni-MH battery). The battery was included in the kit from Glass Jar Audio. I made some measurements, and found the the battery is 16.16 mm...- beerguy0

Looking for portable amp for Imod
As indicated, I'm looking for an amp for my Imod. (I mostly use Denon AH-D1001 headphones at work.) I use the Alo Audio OCC Triple-Pipe Cryo cable for my LOD. Price isn't too critical, but I would like to keep it under $250. I'm somewhat torn on an integrated DAC. On one hand, I'm quite happy...- beerguy0

Diablo III Character Poll
Which Diablo III character will you play to start D3? Edit: I'm planning on either the Monk or Wizard first. I voted Wizard, but I liked the Monk a lot in the closed beta.- beerguy0

Enclosure for Sigma 22 power supply?
I received my Sigma 22 kit yesterday, and was somewhat surprised at the size of the transformer. The Hammond case recommended on the AMB web site won't even come close to fitting the PWB and 80 VA transformer. I'm looking at the Graybox Series B enclosures, but I'm not sure if a 1U case will be...- beerguy0

The Official Diablo III Thread
One week to go! Figured we may as well get started on the inevitable D3 thread. Discuss the game, tactics, character builds, etc. This might also be a good place to post our Battlenet handles. What character are you going to start with? I'm probably going to begin with the wizard, but the...- beerguy0

Need to build an iMod LOD cable - looking for capacitor recommendations?
I recently brought my Goldpoint amp in to work, to use with my iMod. I'd like to leave the Alo Audio cryo pipe cable at home, and just make a cable I can leave at work. Since Blackgate capacitors are pretty much not available, at least as far as I can find, what would be a good alternative...- beerguy0

Bizarre Coincidence...Old amp blows up the same day I start a new amp project!
I just started building the Millett MiniMAX yesterday morning. Last night, I went to listen to my new Denon AH-D5000 cans. I turned on my old home-built PRR-Tori amp, and the power supply promptly went up in smoke. Fortunately, I didn't have the headphones plugged in at the time. So needless to...- beerguy0

Just got my invitation for the Diablo III Closed Public Beta Test...
I've been waiting for this for months. Can't wait to get home and log on to BattleNet. Really looking forward to checking out D3. I was playing D2 for a while recently, but the graphics are so primitive compared to the newer games. The screenshots and videos I've seen so far are amazing, hope...- beerguy0

I helped rescue an animal today...
I was walking my dogs this morning in the local park we go to every day. (This park is 900+ acres of woods and trails) We were on a back trail that we don't always take, and ran across a fox caught in a leg trap. I called 911, and got connected to animal control. I was able to tell them where...- beerguy0

Time to buy a new PC...
My ancient (nearly six years old) PC is starting to die on me. (Freezes, problems rebooting, etc.) I need to buy a new one, but really don't know what I should be looking at. My main usage is Lightroom, editing RAW files. I also plan to do some HD video editing of files from my Canon 7D. Any...- beerguy0

Pod Breakout
Ran across this item while buying some stuff for work. Looks like it would be interesting for making a LOD, to save having to deal with the tiny iPod connector. http://shop.kineteka.com/products/92-podbreakout-ipod-iphone-ipad-breakout-board.aspx- beerguy0

Looking for amp/DAC for HD 580
I'm looking to get another amp setup for home. I have a DIY amp I like, but I want a second setup for use while at my PC. I'd be using the PC as the source, so I'm looking at a DAC/amp setup, either a combo unit or separate pieces. I'd like to keep things reasonably priced, but I still want good...- beerguy0

How many hours to build a B22 for an experienced assembler?
I'm curious as to how long it would actually take to build a three-channel B22 and PWS. I've been in electronics for 30+ years, the last 18 years as an engineering technician. I've worked on all kinds of electronics, mostly RF and analog, some digital, including hand building prototypes. (I've...- beerguy0

So, my wife just gave me a reason to buy a turntable...
One my all time favorite albums. I received it as a birthday gift from my wife. (The CD sounds great). It's been over 20 years since I've owned a TT, and at the moment, this is the only vinyl I own. Worth getting one? I have no idea of what's even available in vinyl these days. I always...- beerguy0

Saddest day of my life - Cosmo, the kitty in my avatar, passed away yesterday...(pics - 56k warning)
He had been diagnosed with lymphoma at the end of November this past year. He had started limping in early November, and at first we thought he had just injured himself. He was a big guy (21 lbs) and we figured he jumped down and hurt himself. His limp got worse, so we wound up consulting with a...- beerguy0
