Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.
You can see what I'm talking about with a screenshot of the iOS app. I have a pair of Shure SE530's that are super sensitive and will pick up hiss when bluetooth is unmuted and even a little when SPDIF is unmuted. (Even if the slider is all the way left, the hiss will be there until I mute the...- moophus

this may be obvious but just in case - did you turn down all the analog line in / microphone levels? (or mute them) also bluetooth levels as well as any other ones not being used can be turned down/muted as well.- moophus

joined today + first post = troll. Everything you reply after this is now discounted. You should get better headphones if your E5 sounds bad. There are countless number of better devices out there but I wouldn't say the E5 sounds bad.- moophus

Sony MDR-E808 recabled with Apple earpod cables
not sure about the blacking out... as that could easily make it look terribly crappy if not done right...as well as possibly rubbing off. SQ doesn't seem changed at all to my aged ears good luck though! post back on how it goes!- moophus

I'm getting quite the opposite experience from you. Which phones you using with it? What source are you comparing this with? What kind of music are you experiencing the sub par quality with? Have you turned off all inputs not being used (bluetooth, line-in/mic, optical in etc)? Turned...- moophus

Sony XBA-2 re-cabled with apple earpod cables
Just wanted to share my latest project. Got a pair of XBA2's with a bad joint at the Y for incredibly cheap. Yesterday I re-cabled it with Apple EarPod cables and the sugru just dried up and they work great! I had to use a hairdryer for a long time to loosen the glue. Be very careful as...- moophus

GWS is an OEM manufacturer for Nite watches actually. I Looked up BALL Watches - WAY COOL. Tritium watches typically are outdoorsy and look such but these are very classy! thanks for the pointer! Maybe they'll have a titanium run one day- moophus

I think Kodhifi meant you would need a device to set it up once. (inputs, levels, etc) and after that, it just keeps that setting every time it is powered up. You can even set up a profile like "Preamp" in the configuration so you can quickly choose from multiple setups quickly- moophus
