Greetings all, I have for sale a great condition HD800 with new factory pads, and aftermarket balanced and Hart audio cables. These headphones sound phenomenal (better than HD800S IMO), especially with tube amps. I just find myself using my planars and speakers more, and these deserve a good...- chargedcapacitor

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
First off, a new LCD-5 will have stiff pads, so give them a few dozen hours of listening to break them in. Secondly, many people will find that the LCD-5 has a dip in the 5-7kz region, or even rolled off treble. I have found that EQ helps tremendously here, but since everyone's ears differ by a...- chargedcapacitor

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
Keep in mind there could be increased latency when using linear filters, which could cause issues such as lip-sync errors with videos, etc. I'm not sure how bad the latency is with roon filters, but I personally made two separate linear filters; one low latency 48k filter, and a high latency...- chargedcapacitor

You might not like the female vocals on the susvara as much as you like them on the LCD-5; I know I don't. Vocals are the biggest weakness of the susvara, compared to the LCD-5 IMO.- chargedcapacitor

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview
In my experience of owning both LCD-5 and susvara at the same time, the lower treble of the 5 is the only cause of the perceived recession of detail compared between the two. A small amount of EQ easily matches the two, with the 5 having much more "realism" to it's mid range compared to the...- chargedcapacitor

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Your phone isn't a calibrated mic, and will not measure spl evenly through the frequency range. Also the lack of a seal means you don't measure bass spl almost at all. If you measure by phone, add 5db to be safe.- chargedcapacitor

Mod House Audio Tungsten - Planar Magnetic Headphones - Impressions and Discussion
Advice from an electrical engineer: speaker amps are meant to drive 4-8 ohm loads. Many will actually perform much worse than headphone amps at higher impedance. Be sure to do your research, and don't just use a speaker amp because you think it will better drive a low sensitivity headphone.- chargedcapacitor

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I've had similar results with the NC400 monoblocks and the susvara/LCD-5s; there's just an extra but of clarity and control from those speaker amps when used with planars.- chargedcapacitor

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
I personally find that everything past the 640hz filter degrades the audio quality on the HEKS, and the bass filters are the best solution for this particular headphone. Maybe the BK50218 measurement will offer a more clear look into what is actually going on with the FR, or maybe it just isn't...- chargedcapacitor

He just said topping, not A70 pro. Most older toppings like the A50, A90, and all the cheap ones in between, have a similar congested, "detailed", and shrill sound to them when used with high end planars. The A70 pro reproduces exactly what the signal provides, no harshness or shrillness, no...- chargedcapacitor

Hair in the driver, or maybe the driver lost tension somewhere on the frame. Could also be the internal headphone wiring. Can you shine a light onto the driver and see if the diaphragm is wavy?- chargedcapacitor

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
The chance a Utopia works for 20 years is zero because of the head band. In general, planars have better power handling and won't die from over driving as quickly as dynamics will. That being said, some planars are very prone to damage from dust, which is why almost all have some for of mesh...- chargedcapacitor

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
The A70 pro amp will give you the same dynamics as a speaker amp, and with a ton of detail. It out performs the A90 by a significant margin, has better spacial qualities than the Ferum OOR, and is very transparent. So if that's what you are looking for, then it's a solid choice. But if you want...- chargedcapacitor

I'd have to agree, the HEKS, while exceptionally good and detailed, just isn't at the detail level of the susvara. There's just an ethereal quality to it that the HEKS just doesn't have; but that's not necessarily a bad thing.- chargedcapacitor

You can also get a constant gain DAC such a the Schiit modi and tuck it away, and get a regular headphone amp. Such a setup will be so much better than any all-in-one has to offer.- chargedcapacitor
