Stax 4040 System or Yamamoto / Audio Technica
Peter, Can't comment on the Stax, however owning the Yammy and ATH 1K, I believe it is a terrific pairing. Admittedly, by themselves, some of my other cans / amps can best them in total or part. However, the synergy between the two is indeed special. Though I've got a fair amount of...- GarryH

Subwoofer-fi - who uses really world-class ($1K+) subs?
I use subs in my 2-channel rigs and can't imagine doing with out them. In the Living Room, there's 2 Velodyne SPL1000Rs are paired with Focus Audio FS-888s. The home office has a REL R305 paired with Micropure Kotaros. One work office has a REL R205 with Zu Tones and the other another REL...- GarryH

looking for the best amps for W1000
BooBoo, For me, without a doubt the best amp for thw W1Ks would be the Yamamoto HA-02. The W1Ks and the Yammy were literally made for each other. Do a search on the Yammy and you'll see mine and others' take on this as well. Whether you go with the HA-02 or not, my recommendation would be...- GarryH

W1000 VS W5000 sonic differences?
Hi Vandal, The sound character of both is such that the midrange is the star of the show. Both provide crystal clear clarity, which when paired with the wrong amp, may come across as etched or tipped up. The major difference between the two as I hear things is balance, top to bottom...- GarryH

Zana Deux vs. Cayin HA-1A comparisons?
Eppis, I own the Cayin too and think it is a fine amp - especially with my 701s. Though I've not yet had the pleasure of hearing the Zana Deux, from all accounts here on HeadFi and other forums, it seems safe to say that the ZD is in another league. No doubt others whom have heard both...- GarryH

Jaspert, Lovely looking kit you've got there. Nicely laid out room that's warm and inviting - very well done mate Don't know where to start really . . . Dynaudios, Supratek, Bel Canto Monos, CEC transport (?), etc., etc. Two questions . . . what brand are those single drivers, or are...- GarryH

What would represent the cheapest entry into "high end audio"?
OK - For Hifi, based on my experience and assuming one is buying new, I'd go with high efficiency speakers, tubed integrated amp, and tubed or SS CDP. As far as brands & $$, the choices that first come to mind are: Speakers: Omega Super 5s @ USD 950, Omega Deep Hemp Cub @ USD 950...- GarryH
