List of High-End Digital Source Owners on Head-Fi

Well, remove me from the high-end list.

I've gone back to a $600 Onkyo DX-7555 cd player, from the Esoteric SA-10 and the Marantz SA-11S2.

The latter two sound better, in a refined way, but, to me, don't justify their extra $3000. I'm sure that that wouldn't be the case for everyone, of course.

got my Cary 306 SACD. First thing I said when comparing it with my CA 840C was HOLY CRAP. Theres a big SQ difference between the 2. The Cary has more detail and impact yet has this smooth liquid sound that I can only describe as emotional. All I can say is, its the first time I actually had tears listening to my music.

Update of my list:

Meridian 808.2

I would appreciate if people would start listing prices when posting equipment so I don't have to go search. I'm just maintaining the list and would rather not have to do price checks too, I don't think it's too much to ask.

Sorry but this CDP does not meet the $2K minimum price.

Noted & apologies for the inconvenience - I'll post the pricing of the others accordingly.

...yes three sets. Got them for some strange experiment that I could have done without.

Man that's wild! What headphones do you still have?

.....

one of my sources that may qualify for the list: Mark Levinson 37 transport + 360s (original) DAC. $11495

Still have R10/L3k/some headphile stuff/ a couple w5ks etc.
may get an amp later this year, but the bulk of my focus is on speaker system right now. gotta get rid of some speakers too...to make room.

The CD12/DA12 combination I bought in the late 1980s for approx. 4500 euro. Inflation counting that would now be about 12000 euro (rough estimate) I think.
Apart from the Audio Research CD7 I never heard a better player.
