As far as brands & $$, the choices that first come to mind are: Speakers: Omega Super 5s @ USD 950, Omega Deep Hemp Cub @ USD 950; Amplifier: Almarro A205 mk II @ USD 750; CDP: Consonance 120 Linear @ USD 950. Stands / Cables / Interconnects / Etc @ USD 300. Total system cost w/ sub: USD 3.9K Total system cost w/o sub: USD 3.0 When funds permit, some modding / tube rolling of the Almarro @ approx USD 400 and you'd be doin' fine for a long time. For Headphone rig my 1st choices would be what's in my home office . . . Yamamoto HA-02 @ USD 995; ATH-W1000 @ USD 350; Eastern Electric Minimax @ USD 900; Audioquest Interconnects @ USD 100 Total system cost: USD 2,345 With another $100 or for a pair of Amperex 6922s for the EE Minimax, one would, IMO, be set for quite a while.
