AKG K271 vs. Shure SRH440: which has smoother highs?
I ended up getting the SRH440, which now have over 70 hours of burn in. After listening to some test tracks (192 kbps or higher mp3, q5 ogg), mostly rock but with some metal and electronica, and a little classical, I really like them. They look like they're built to last, and the detachable...- theKraken11

AKG K271 vs. Shure SRH440: which has smoother highs?
Ok. I was relying on a couple posts I saw that said they were good or decent unamped. Is the frequency response of the K171 basically the same, and easier to drive? I want to at least have one AKG can on my list, but I can't find much info on them.- theKraken11

AKG K271 vs. Shure SRH440: which has smoother highs?
I'm looking for a closed phone with good mids, so these two really stood out when I was doing research... but I'm sensitive to harsh treble. Which one is better for me?- theKraken11

Need help Rockboxing V2 Fuze

RE0 or HJE900 for rock?
You said you wanted to use it for metal, and I wouldn't recommend any studio monitor-like IEM for that. A lot of metal is badly recorded, at least "bad" compared to the cleanness of other recordings, so that will come out in both the RE0 and HJE900. Note: I only have personal experience with the...- theKraken11

Any benefits from having a higher sample rate?
A lot of the things in this thread are over my head (not good with engineering), so I'm just wondering if there's any easy way to get a higher sample rate than 44kHz? Do any CD ripping programs give me the tools to do that?- theKraken11

MY TAKE: Soundmagic PL-50 vs Cyclone PR1-Pro vs Maximo iM-590
Good review! Just wanted to register that with my Fuze, I had the opposite experience with the im-590's. I found myself turning the volume down because it could get quite loud, at least in quiet settings.- theKraken11

Case for your fancy IEM ear buds -- whaddya use?
I put them in a large bag so I don't have to wind the wire. I just kind of lay them there and then bring them with me.- theKraken11

Sansa players
You can use it with the ones that have MSC mode, and for the newer players at least it's as easy as going to settings and clicking automatic or MSC, as opposed to MTP. MTP is a transfer protocol used for Windows only.- theKraken11

Recommendation for a beginner
Well, normally I'd recommend the Clip+ or Fuze, but they only go up to 8gb (more with the microSD slot, which integrates with the player's music library). You said space was a big concern so you might want to steer clear of flash memory. Still, as budget options, they're good for beginners.- theKraken11

Shure se530 vs 535
I could be wrong, but I would expect a discount on the 530's by the time the 535's come out, so if you can wait, it might be worth saving some money.- theKraken11

Small case for IEM
Personally, I would find any cheap little bag. It doesn't have to be made for IEMs, does it? I guess it's more important that there's enough room for the wire, though, without winding it.- theKraken11

Should I add RE0 to my IEM collection
1. I wouldn't really know, since I haven't tried many IEMs. Personally, their sound sig doesn't suit my tastes enough to the point that I would pay the original MSRP for them. 2. It's not pounding, but it goes down deep and what's there is quality bass. I was happy with it, personally, so to...- theKraken11
