11th Calgary Head-Fi Meet Sunday May 31st, 2015 at University of Calgary
I haven't been monitoring the thread but holy crap this is going to be a nice meet.. I worry there won't be enough room for everyone's gear LOL. Although I do expect people to drop out/no shows and I do expect some will come early/leave early/come late, etc... I'll likely only be able to stay...- clem24

About to pick up the Logitech UE 6000. How bad is the leakage on it? Are they any other problems I should be aware of?
I believe Bose has the best noise cancellation circuitry on the market. I've tried them numerous times (at the Bose store, in a noisy Best Buy) and they definitely do an excellent job of blocking noise. Having said that, they also hurt my ears; as in the frequency waves generated by the NC...- clem24

Ultrasone Edition 8
...from Wyred 4 Sound DAC also balanced). All I have to say is WOW. Whoever said these things don't need proper amplification are talking about their *****. The Ed 8s pair quite poorly with my work setup (Fubar IV+). They worked decently with my old amp (Little Dot MK IV SE) but they absolutely...- clem24

Quote: Yup same here. My pair are quite burned in and the leather is quite settled, and I can tell you that it doesn't get any better. Could also be that maybe this only affects Asians LOL (I assume you are since you're talking about HK). On the bright side, once the cans settle in...- clem24

Ken Rockwell Audio Reviews - Ultrasone Edition 8 and Stax
Digging up an old thread... I guess DT880s are better than either the Ed8s and the HD800. http://kenrockwell.com/audio/beyer/dt-880.htm I guess he's also turned into a headophile. In any case, if you've ever read any of his reviews of equipment, you'll see that he's...- clem24

Ultrasone Edition 8
If I didn't have a pair, I'd easily scoop those up in a heartbeat. I paid $1,300 for mine USED though mind you, mine are the Palladiums and were also recabled and also fitted with TRRS end for balanced connection. Anyway, even with my criticism of the headphones, I still think they are...- clem24

Best Bass Tracks
I am always on the look out for songs that is not hip hop but has lots of really **low** bass. Not necessarily hard hitting but low. My Grado 325i's do NOT pick these up very well at all. Some of my faves: Seal - Crazy (the very last verse and not usually present in the "radio mix... -
Ultrasone Edition 8
Quote: Haha same here. At work I can do it (where I primarily use it anyway) since my monitor is a 22" @ 1920x1200 about 1 1/2 feet from my face. Can't do it at home as it's a 30" @ 2560x1600 but about 4 feet from my face. Too small and can't see. But yes they do seem to seal better...- clem24

Ultrasone Edition 8
Quote: Frig.. Ok just messing around with them. 2 clicks on the left side, 3 clicks on the right (my head is uneven, so what). And then I have to push them FORWARD so they touch the back of my ears and actually fold them uncomfortable forward to get some bass. Damn you S-Logic. And my...- clem24

Ultrasone Edition 8
I have Ed8 Palladiums and it does something funny. I think it has to do with the arrangement of S-Logic, because if I turn my head a bit, I can totally hear lots of bass (but only coming out of the side I am turning my head towards). Once I am back in neutral position, the bass just kind of ...- clem24

Monster breaking up with Beats
...of an ignorant reporter. Happens all the time. I'd take it with a grain of salt. As for the Beats, don't be so quick to judge. They are *not* bad headphones. Overpriced, yes, but crap, NO. If you haven't heard or owned them before, then please do not bash them. I hate most of...- clem24

Ferrari Headphones at CES
So they had a fair sized booth at CES, a Ferrari 599 on display, and a bunch of 'reps' milling around the booth, wearing some of the headphones, and seemingly zoning out/ignoring show-goers. I asked a rep if they had any demos, he wasn't sure, and then pointed to a guy walking around with the...- clem24

Just got HFI-580s...defective???
Quote: Hahaha you don't NEED to be listening to them as they burn in.. 100 hours is just 4 straight days and to me that's more than enough for any headphone. Plug them into your receiver, pick a channel, and leave them running.- clem24

Closed Cans
Quote: Having not heard the M50 I can't comment. I have the SR80 but they are a completely different beast than the Beats so in the world of headphones, that's like apples vs. oranges. Being open vs. closed does that to you. The Grados are completely useless in any environment that...- clem24

I might also add.. Another good thing about the Beats is that you can usually try them. Head to your local Best Buy and wherever and they should have a pair you can try out. Just make sure you can use your own source...- clem24
