Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Huh. Very interesting, thanks. I do think that we have done USB a disservice in the past by comparing mediocre or poor USB sources with better sources of other kinds. I think that Marv is right to point this out, and his opinion that Unison from a PCIe usb card sounded better than Pi2AES was...- Royaume

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
You did not answer my question. I knew all that already. But in the particular case of the Yggdrasil with Unison, SBAF members have found that very good USB sources outscale what is possible with the off-the-shelf AES implementation in the Yggdrasil. I was curious to know Earnmyturns response...- Royaume

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Do you disagree with the consensus on SBAF that Yggy with Unison prefers excellent USB to excellent AES? They seem to think that USB is Yggy's best designed input.- Royaume

Which DAC + AMP to buy?
From SBAF: "Jason confirmed with me on Head-Fi a little bit back that "native" ASIO drivers aren't supported with Bifrost 2, which makes sense given that Unison relies on Windows 10's/Microsoft's UAC2 driver to function and not a third-party driver. It seems unlikely to me that Microsoft will...- Royaume

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
I am so happy to see the recent adoption of lossless audio streaming by all the major streaming services. Long have we waited! As someone who has cared about SQ for a number of years, I could never understand why this didn't happen sooner, given the relatively low bandwidth requirements compared...- Royaume

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
I also do not think wireless is up to par yet. Also, one of the major advantages to purchasing non-electronic goods like headphones, iems and keyboards is that they will last you a lifetime, or at least have good resale value. Wireless versions of all these products depreciate much faster...- Royaume

@Rockwell75 Sorry for the confusion, it was the following sentence about itunes that made me think you listened primarily using itunes music. Ofc they were local files, silly me. I didn't mean to question the value of your opinion, but I personally think that lossless files sound far more...- Royaume

Hi @Rockwell75 I am surprised to hear this. Did you simply not have good equipment at the time or do you still not care about audio compression? I think it matters quite a bit in order to understand your listening priorities and reviewing methodology. Many thanks in advance- Royaume

HD800 VS HD800S
The OG HD800 remains the best platform for physical modification out of all HD800 series headphones. Heck, it's possibly the best mod platform of all headphones period! The only reason to buy anything other than a second-hand HD800 is if you do not want to mod the headphone. However, the HD800...- Royaume
