Fir Audio Thread - Discussion and Impressions
Just received a set of the frontier trio as part of the Australian FIR Audio tour, kindly organised by minidisc.com.au and @Damz87. Coming from the Sony IER-Z1R, FIR Audio has truly produced something special with their kinetic bass DD, it's the first time I've felt real low end slam and impact...- xjaynine

Australian Head-Fi Tour Thread
Howdy everyone, the tour bus has arrived! Thanks @redrich2000 for the smooth handover and constant comms (received the kit a day after posting). As mentioned a while back, I'm coming into this completely blind (don't even know how much these cost). Have only spent 10 minutes with the Krypton...- xjaynine

Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread
I was just thinking the same thing. Coming from the IER-Z1R and the KATO the Variations sounded thinner and dryer. This give the Variations a clean and precise presentation. Received my set a couple of days ago, and I can say they can stand toe to toe with Sony's top of the line. Very impressed...- xjaynine

Random question, for people who are getting a great seal/ fit with silicon tips. Is your ear wax wet or dry? I'm on team wet, so at have never been able to get a good fit with silicon. Foam on the other hand works for me.- xjaynine

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
Funny story. I actually came from the opposite direction. When the M1s were announced in 2016, I was super disappointed about Sony dropping android since I was already very used to having non-DAP specific features on the ZX1. What's interesting back in 2011-13, having android functionality was...- xjaynine

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!
Nice impressions. I think the description of the M2 being softer and less spicy mirrors my experience, leading for a more laid-back sound. Interestingly, at least for my preferences this ended up producing a pleasing tonality with the MDR-Z1R. Less spice! The sound stage is certainly narrower...- xjaynine

Perso Personally think this is the way, as you get to enjoy the ZM1 for what it is. Had it not been for an opportunity to get the ZM2 at a discount, I would've stuck with my ZM1 for a few more years. It's truly that good.- xjaynine

Love the new reports coming in, but I'll resist reading them until it's my turn on the tour. Want to go in blind, never had the opportunity to listen to anything from FIR before. Great photos btw!- xjaynine

If you're into aged alcohol like single malt whiskies, then the M1 is like a 18 year old bottle, whereas the M2 is the 25 year old expression. The value of the M1 is obviously better, but there's no denying that the M2 builds on the original and adds refinement.- xjaynine

In terms of sound signature between it depends on which firmware you are currently using on the original 1Z. Since that varies a bit. But I would say with the M2, it's character is very much like the stock M1. Detailed, but non-fatiguing high end Deep, precise bass that's not dry I'm currently...- xjaynine

Another M1 UX / feature perk is the ability to: disable charging when USB DAC mode is engaged. But what I really would love in both the M1/M2s is the return of the display albums by grid view from the old ZX1/2- xjaynine

There was a review on Youtube from a Hong Kong creator who compared the bluetooth connection of both the 1AM2 and 1ZM2, and concluded that the 1ZM2 was worse with wireless due to the copper chassis. I wonder if it's the same with Wifi. That ZX1 looks like one of prototypes they created to test...- xjaynine

You do realise you're comparing the Android builds of the ZX1/2 dating from 2013-15? Perhaps their decision to switch to Walkman OS made sense then.
