AUDIO over IP - REDNET 3 & 16 Review. AES67 Sets A New Standard for Computer Audio
I may give the Mutec a try at some point... I had read through a test on the Convert-2 where they tried it with several outboard clocks and none made an improvement over the already excellent built-in clock, so I've been telling my wallet that I can put money into other parts of the system for...- mhamel

RME ADI-2 DAC Thread
Check out some of the PC modding videos on Youtube about adding a window to a PC case. There is an edge gasket that you can get that has a channel on one side that holds the gasket to the hole in the case, and a 2nd channel on the inner edge that holds the window.- mhamel

AUDIO over IP - REDNET 3 & 16 Review. AES67 Sets A New Standard for Computer Audio
In my setup, I use the clock in my DAC (Dangerous Convert-2) as the external clock source for a Rednet D16 via BNC cable, then set the D16 as the master clock for the Dante network. The D16 feeds the Convert-2 via AES. The Focusrite clocks are very good. That said, I did quite a bit of...- mhamel

Dangerous Music Source DAC
It depends on the amplifier, but most amplifiers with balanced input should be able to handle it. You can also choose to use the speaker out instead of line out and control the level... the pot tracks very well and is very transparent. Thanks, -Mike- mhamel

Dangerous Music Source DAC
When I had a Source, I always used it as a standalone DAC feeding an external amp... worked great.- mhamel

RME ADI-2 DAC Thread
Gus, Check out https://www.redco.com/ - they do custom cables for the pro audio market. I had them make an RCA->XLR adapter cable for my Dangerous Convert-2 DAC using Mogami cable. Reasonable pricing, too. -Mike- mhamel

Rosson Audio Design RAD-0 - Alex's Beautiful New Baby
Well, looks like it's time to see how Rosson handles support... the right driver in my RAD-0 just died. I hadn't used them in a few days, put them on and noticed the right channel volume seemed a bit low. A couple of minutes later it went completely dead. Swapped the cable channels, no go...- mhamel

Dangerous Music Convert-2 DAC Impressions and Discussion Thread
I think some of it is that it isn't marketed at all to the consumer market. I've noticed that there can also be some bias against pro audio gear in the consumer audiophile world. It's kind of funny to me since the gear that the recordings people love so much were recorded, mixed and mastered on...- mhamel

Rosson Audio Design RAD-0 - Alex's Beautiful New Baby
Wow, I like those, too. Nice! I'm loving the Woodstock so far. I had sold off my higher end headphones a few years back as I was using speakers at the time almost exclusively. From the listening I've done in the past couple of days, I can't say anything bad about them. They're heavy, but I...- mhamel

Rosson Audio Design RAD-0 - Alex's Beautiful New Baby
I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of B-stock LCD-4, but these caught my attention. Out of what I was able to find that's still in stock, I ended up ordering the Woodstock design.- mhamel

AUDIO over IP - REDNET 3 & 16 Review. AES67 Sets A New Standard for Computer Audio
I have not felt the need to even attempt it. My D16 has an external LPS and I use the clock in the C-2 as the master. Would someone mind PMing me the link to the thread about modding it on the other forum? Thanks, -Mike- mhamel

AUDIO over IP - REDNET 3 & 16 Review. AES67 Sets A New Standard for Computer Audio
The Rednet 3 uses the original Brooklyn module while the D16 uses the Brooklyn II. I'm not sure if that has changed for the 3 more recently but that was the case the last time I checked. I had also seen at one point a SKU for a Brooklyn II upgrade for the Rednet 3, but wasn't able to find much...- mhamel

That's the same page, just linked to the AES3 adapter directly instead of the overall page... I sent the main page in case anyone wanted to see the other adapters or wasn't familiar with the AVIO product. It will be interesting to see how these compare with the larger interface boxes.- mhamel

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I would suggest it has a separate thread for those building it out. That way the questions/answers/troubleshooting posts don't get lost in the shuffle here, and it keeps the tech discussions together with those that want to see them. Personally I'm looking forward to it and will most likely...- mhamel

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
If we're talking about Schiit wish-lists... I'd love to see a Freya with a modular slot that could take a headphone amp or one of the other cards already available. Add a DAC, phono pre, or headphone amp (Magni 3 on a card but using Freya's volume control?). I replaced my MJ2 with a Freya since...- mhamel

Audeze Mobius Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Actually, what I understand is that to me, sound quality trumps something so minor as having to click a volume control. I use a headset that has the feature now (Plantronics Rig800) but for me, personally, if these sound like other Audeze planars, that carries far more weight in my decision...- mhamel

There are headsets that do this, but one can just as easily turn the volume down in the game and/or the volume up in their voice app. First world problems, I guess. lol- mhamel

AUDIO over IP - REDNET 3 & 16 Review. AES67 Sets A New Standard for Computer Audio
I just heard back from the manufacturer - surprising given the time of day there. He is going to get me a quote for a single board for now with shipping to the US. He's also going to get me some board specs on Friday so that I can look into case and panel options to enclose it. If this works...- mhamel
