I have the same question. It seems that the 0204 DAC chip's specs are better, and it supports more sample rates than the uDAC2, but there's more to a DAC than just the chip.

Don't see any reason to go with a sound card and a dac, when you can get a USB dac that will do everything the combination could, for less money. If the X-FI offers a great improvement for gaming, I am unaware of it. The udac-2  you mentioned seems the best option, waiting to pull the trigger on...

The only album which survives my grunge phase (besides those by Nirvana, which are not really grunge, as one clever writer at Pitchfork pointed out) is Pearl Jam's official boot 6/16/00 at Katowice, Poland. Good, intimate songs, along with an overview of their better stuff all the way back to Ten.
