TOPPING DX1 is available now
Just got hold of a unit at my local dealer, here in Singapore. Just an early impression below. Unit is well built with chasis made of 2mm aluminium. It has some good heft to it, and together with 4x silicone stud feet, it stays pretty much immobile on the desk. Volume pot is smooth and with...- micropixel

Koss KSC75's. Dont Forget This Giant Killer in all the ''Hidden Gem'' Hype.
Logitech H370 headset and Rode AI-Micro soundcard Had a well used Logitech headset I was going to toss away. Then decided to cannibalize the mic for my Rode AI-Micro just for fun. As I popped out the drivers from the headset, I realized that they are mini ball socket joints which look familiar...- micropixel

Comment by 'micropixel' in item 'Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers - 2.0 Active Near Field Monitors - Studio Monitor Speaker - Wooden Enclosure - 42 Watts RMS'
I just bought the newer version R1280DB. I assume they are both the same except for the addition of digital and BT inputs. Out of the box, the sound was disappointing. Sounded thin, congested and muddy. So went on to burn in for a week - probably 50 hours worth. The sound opened up but still...- micropixel

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
The lip sync time lag was too much, so I didn't go as far as getting down to the sound quality unfortunately. Ideally it should be 50ms or less. My existing setup for TV is the MEE Audio Connect + Plantronics SENSE, both of which are aptx LL equipped. Light, good comfort, and great audio for...- micropixel

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Thanks Andy for looking into the divider bar light - this will certainly ease operating the N3 in the dark. As for using the N3 instead of my QP1R, from my perspective it needs to be looked at in totality, as a whole. The N3 offers good BT, which the QP1R obviously does not, and it is better...- micropixel

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Been having the N3 for couple of days now. Bought it for BT play with Plantronics BB Pro 2, there's definitely sound improvement over my Samsung S7 Edge. However I found more time spent using it cabled to my Denon MM400 - they simply sound awesome together. In short - just smooth, very smooth...- micropixel

Review by 'micropixel' on item 'HiFiMAN Megamini'
So I am another lucky person who got selected by AV One here in Singapore to do a review of this wonderful player. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now. Quick background of my dabble in personal hifi – I own a few DAPs (Sony A845, FiiO X3, X5ii, QP1R), portable amps (XDuoo, Mojo)...- micropixel

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Just circling back to give my feedback. Managed to find some time last month to make my own SPC cable. Nothing fancy just brand less generic SPC wire which sells for US$1 per meter. Did a 4 wire round braid, heat shrinked. Eventhough it's not a balanced cable I decided to use 4 wires because I...- micropixel

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions
Just wondering whether silver plated cable may help brighten up the slightly rolled off treble. So how do you find this SPOCC cable so far? Thanks in advance.- micropixel

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
My exact sentiment from yesterday trying to make a pigtail adapter just like yours. Gotta have a really hot solder gun to burn through the thick metal sleeve solder area, so I am reattempting this coming weekend with a fatter tip to try to finish off from where I let off yesterday!- micropixel

Thanks PETEREK. So pins 3 and 4 are not used? No shorting required (as in the case of LCD mini XLR)?- micropixel

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
Can anyone kindly share wiring diagram or instruction for Ether SN8-4 connector please. Appreciate if you can also share picture of the soldering points for me to have an idea how difficult it potentially is. I have fair experience building LCD cable using mini XLR, so now I'm considering...- micropixel

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
Same thought crossed my mind to make it a balanced cable with solid core UPOCC to give the sound more body, but I simply do not know where to begin to disassemble the headphone housings. Good luck and please share your success story/photos! Thanks.- micropixel
