Show Us Your Sanctuary
My entry was number #40, the menacing looking metal-head teenager. Pretty fun contest. I was surprised about the number of late entries, I guess everybody was waiting to see what else would be submitted. I hope they have more contests, just using some of there amps for prizes would be great.- leftshoe

Girlfriend unimpressed and the ipod bud sound
I'm slowly climbing the head-fi ladder, starting with the ms-1 and going onto the DT-770 now, but I've never stopped listening through my ipod buds. Its not like they sound horrible, they just don't sound as good. If the song is good, it sounds good.- leftshoe

Yet another CMOY troubleshooting thread
What opamp are you using? When I tried to build a cmoy without using the opamp tangent suggests I had the same problem.- leftshoe

5g Ipod users CAUTION
ok. I've got a 5th gen ipod and a multimeter. Its time somebody tested the DC offset. Looks like my 30gig model has a DC offset of 0.002-0.001V with no music playing. Thats less then my cmoy, so I figure I'm safe. I've got a cheap multimeter, so it could be less then that. It could just be...- leftshoe

I'm going to declare a new law: LEFTSHOE's first law of electronics - 70% of problems in simple circuits are caused by excess flux on the board.- leftshoe

concering a power supply for the cmoy
You can run a cmoy straight off of a 12v wall wart. Thats what I do, and I havn't had any problems so far. The solutions other people have suggested may be better, but I havn't tested anything else, so I can't comment on it.- leftshoe

Bass Boost CMoy Problems
Clean the flux off of the board. When I built my cmoy it kept having weird problems, like voltages beging wrong, huge DC offset, static, etc. All the problems went away after cleaning the flux off of the board.- leftshoe

Unfortunante events
The following advice may or may not work: 1. Unplug and then open your computer up 2. Take the sound card out, shake it to get the dust off, then put it back in. 3. Wiggle all cables coming anywhere near your sound card, especially the ones plugged into it.- leftshoe

Headphone amp
Cmoy is basically the only common amp that will cost less then $100. The great thing is that it is well documented on tangents site(google it). You can build it with whatever additions you want; bass boost etc. Don't forget to factor the power supply into your cost calculations. For a cmoy...- leftshoe
