Ah, but you underestimate the tremendous payoff and satisfaction from being a part of Audioscrobbler. It's better than upgrading from stock earbuds to an Orpheus.

About half the time, I just set Foobar on random over my entire library of music. The other half I'll switch between listening to particular albums or just choosing a genre and doing random within it. I like well-organized and well-tagged music.

You could always, you know, keep a player open on your computer, mute the volume, and use dummy files to mirror what you're actually listening to.
