    Discrete I/V converter design

Indeed I like it. Opamps are just fine for basic amplification they only really become an issue in I/V. Although looking at the complexity of the I/V circuit it would be a waste to go so far with that many components and then just flop an opamp on the output. Plus you don't get the bragging...

    Blackgates have been discontinued!

At least if they were discontinued people would stop paying for them and start paying for things that matter in their circuits! I want to see someone go out and design a capacitorless amplifier. How about that. Imagine a better cicuit, rather than spending loads on something that makes only the...

DAC: what's the difference between 24/192 and 24/96 khz?

It's not numbers they are afraid of. It's digital pure and simple. I like my CDplayer better anyway. The TT just serves for those things I can't get on CD, and those albums which truly were mastered better on vinyl.

    Op-Amps in Dynalo

LOL Tomo I'm sure you can feel it too I never said they were part of the feedback loop. I said they were in the audio path. As far as I'm concerned if something is capable of making a change in the output (such as say an Servo configured as an integrator modulating a CCS to remove DC...

    Why vishay-Dale?

    1. Metal-film resistors have less noise than other resistor types. --True though this is so insignificant it bearly makes an impact on even measurement gear. Other factors play a much larger role. 2. Metal-film resistors's resistance does not alter under heat. --Yes they do. the ppm/C...

    Pinging Garbz ...

I think the thing most people would be against is the conversion from analogue to digital. If that were a non-issue people would just buy the CD. Anyway like I said PM me the week after easter (this thread will most likely no longer be alive, and I will most likely forget ) and we'll get this...

My DAC-AH died after passive bypass mod!

You won't be able to measure anything meaningful from the coax output with a multimetre. Chances are you could have cooked your chip. You upped the voltage, did you consider that higher voltage means higher current draw and higher power dissipation?

Pong! ezkcdude resurecting an old thread is worse. A PM would have been better. Ok I like the idea. PM me in 2 weeks about it since I'm about to move into exams and don't have the time to bypass my RIAA stage at this point. My DAC would be used to provide a fair comparison. So far I have...

32kps AAC Plus, frankly, I'm astounded.

You're missing a unit. 32kps could be 32kHz or 32kbps, or 32kBps, or in german 32000Horsepower per second which makes no sense. It's true lossy encoders are getting better but it's far from perfect. The fact is some information is still being thrown to the dogs. It's interesting that the...

    Common mode choke question

Correct me if I am wrong but common mode noise can't actually travel through a transformer.

    Need some schematic reading help

Yes that is how bridged operations work. Inverting one signal, and non-inverting the other. The cap values are microfarad. The FET is hooked up as is shown. The input goes to the gate, the drain to 9v, and the source to the junction 10k/0.22uf
