Full price for an amp which is clearly not in mint condition. If that is how it shipped from schiit - may be you should do a warranty repair?

I was after detail too and got a Grado GH-1. But soon realized that it is fatiguing and really hard for me listen to them for longer hours. If Grado, I'd suggest testing them in a local store if possible.

Question about the bass adjustment capability: I'm curious to know why separate knobs for the left and right channels are needed. Are there cases where different bass strengths are useful?

You cannot go wrong with the schiit stack. O2 would be something to consider too. I have the latter + HD600 and I think I am set for quite a while.

I'm waiting for my Bottlehead Crack. The wait time is over a month now :(   Currently I'm driving my HD600 with a Fiio E17 and something seems to be off unfortunately. I'm glad the Vali 2 worked out for you.

Yep, it is obvious there is a difference on driver set up. It is a bummer that Grado wouldn't acknowledge it.

Waiting for my HD600. Excited! Amazon has a neat deal of $400 with a $150 gift card included which brings a new HD600 to $250. Almost similar price as used ones.

A friend of mine called 4ourears to find out if they can make sure they ship an RS1e without the protruding driver. The called was answered by Richard Grado and he mentioned that Grado has not changed anything on the RS1e except for the color or the leather headband.
