    Replacing a Westone w3

Hi. My old westone w3 has died, only bad cable, but soldering on a new is perhaps beyond me currently.. No soldering iron, and I assume its best to have a better one that the basic cheap one for this kind of soldering. No replies from anyone I know on Soldering irons sadly. So I'm shopping...

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

I tried Primacy. The sound was nice, but sadly the iems would not stay properly inserted.. Was most problematic when I'm wearing a winter-cap, not really applicable to go without one where I live, gets cold. the sounds changes from full and nice to a tin-can-kind of sound when the seal isn't...

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

Thanks for pointing it out the difference in sound signatures, its always in the back of my head, and most of the phones and iems i've tried have been quite different. however, the brain adapts :D I value fit and comfort almost more than sound at times. That said, the sound quality and...

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

Wish there were somewhere near my town you could try these iems.. :) Rather hopeless here in Norway I think. Thanks for your input, the Primacy is back into consideration as well then :)

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

Yes,Signal2Noise.. I am a bit worried about that myself too.. Been reading on the FLC8S thread, and it seems its had its issues too. However it looks very promising. Oscar-Hifi: Primacy looks like it would stick a bit out of the ears, I live in norway and we have winters:D which means wearing...

    Recabling a Westone 3

Hi. Anyone got any info on how this is best done? My left channel is dieing, and i have very limited access to the right tools. Can probably find myself a soldering iron, but who knows how well i can do it.. been 15 years since i used one last, and that was not advanced soldering.. Any input...

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

Thanks S2N :) Looks like a solid contender, I will check out some more reviews and see how I can get this one to scandinavia :D They look a bit frail though, and finicky with all the filters and mods you can do to it. It looks like its been around for a while though, does anyone have a set...

Replace my dear Westone 3.. It is dieing..

Hi. It's been a while. I have been very happy with my westone 3/w3 unit.. Sadly enough I have less money these days and need a new headset for a more affordable price. I see prices for the new good iems are quite a bit higher now than 7 years ago. Could you guys recommend me a replacement...

AKG K 390 NC - black mamba, thoughts and impressions..

Well, I can see there are little interest around these, for good reasons I guess.   The phones haven't been put to burn-in much, I've used them sporadicly, however.. I lost the motivation for it. The reason is simply the Noise-cancelling device, it makes the phones itself un-wearable...

AKG K 390 NC - black mamba, thoughts and impressions..

Hello.   Just received this set today, figured I'd order it due to pleasant experiences with AKG earlier. I used to have a AKG k324p set, must be the set I've been most happy with, until my westone 3's.   So This is how they look.     My source is a sony S639F. This is just...

So, I'm wondering, anyone still praise westone 3?

Glad to see guys giving the westone 3's some love still! :) Also seems like the fuss about sibilance has died down, but so has the promoting of this model.   Anyone tried the w3's with any amps? I'm wondering what difference there is, if they benefit greatly from it..

So, I'm wondering, anyone still praise westone 3?

Quote: I agree :) I like the westone 3 very much, however, im not sure its theeee sound signature for me, but thats because after reading all the comments going around my brain gets abit jumbled.. We will see when I get the AKG's. So far westone 3 is a clear favourite! :D

So, I'm wondering, anyone still praise westone 3?

They were soo hyped and praised at first.   But did they really hit that hard? The problem with IEMs I guess, is there are so many of them.. So many to try, so many different profiles, so many similar setups. How to go about choosing the right one for you.   When I was looking for a...

Home cinema 5.1 issue with playing mysic, check it :)

Hello guys.   Been a while since I've been on here. Got abit annoyed with all the people who can never keep to one opinion about the same items and kinda dropped off checking for a while.   Been checking randomly though trying to keep up with whats happening! :)   Anyhow, I recently...

Opinion wanted: Westone 3 vs UE Tri.Fi 10 Pro

As you bring in the ie8, though author of this thread asked nothing about it, ill comment on all three. As I've previously tried and owned all 3. In fear of repeating myself, I will keep it short. In a matter of sound quality and personality the ie8 is abit more open, it has good clarity...

How big must your ears be for the IE8's?

I had issues with the IE8.. They went in pretty easily, no pain or stress on my ears. But they keep getting pushed back out.. I could change to bigger tips I guess, but that makes them hard to get into position, and puts more stress on my earcanals, which makes it less comfortable during...

Which IEMs don't protrude from the ear?

westone 3 will fall out with using siliconetips, if you are wearing a cap which will push your ears towards your skull.. it makes them loose seal, but not completely fall out. with comply that probably wouldn't be the case.

If I liked the fit of the SE530 the best, should I go with the W3 or the IE8?

You hate the sony fit, you love the 530 fit. There should be no question, go for the w3, it has the same tips as the shure530, and it fits like a welltailored glove, while the ie8 with the sonytips delivers in sound it fails in fit. It was for me something about its shape which made it slide...

    My Westone 3 / Sennheiser IE8 dilemma

There are not that many sibilance complaints compared to other positive comments. Its just that people post more and speak up louder when they experience bad things, aswell as some of the people with sibilance problems are very active users I experience no sibilance problems with my w3.
