Sony NW-ZX300
Switched my region from CN to J to see if there was an audible difference (there was), and happened to notice the omission of a language setting in "settings". I remember choosing "English" during the initial setup when I purchased the unit ~2 years ago, but has the language setting never...- rapoon

Tin Hifi P1 impressions
I think more impressionable than stupid. If we're to use 'likes' as a metric.. it speaks volumes when some of the highest ranked comments (on aforementioned 20+ min videos & drop) are tepid statements, e.g. "xxxx & yyyy recommend it! it's a must buy!" That's not a criticism aimed at said...- rapoon

You're now dismissing the very article that you posted as 'evidence'..... :ok_hand: At least we can agree that belaboring this discussion is an exercise in futility; your obstinance is staggering.- rapoon

Fiio EX1 2nd Gen
Neither did you.... The individual who you originally quoted made a broad comment regarding the sound. To your point: a refinement of the sound signature is equivalent to a change. Personally, I hear absolutely no difference between the two generations, but I would recommend the later for the...- rapoon

Fiio EX1 2nd Gen
If it was refined, then it changed. The only thing that changed was the material used for the cable, and the inclusion of an in-line remote. Additionally, there is no discernible difference between the Titan1's and the first gen EX1's.- rapoon

Fiio EX1 2nd Gen
I finally got around to picking a pair up today; the 1st gens are some of my favorite budget IEMs. If there's a difference between the two generations, I cannot tell. Something that was immediately noticeable (and aggravating) was the omission of the circular chin slider / cinch in the second...- rapoon

Ihifi 770 & 770c Thread
I had it rockboxed at one point, but reverted back to 2.02. I would say I get about the same amount (7-8 hours). The SAP-7 typically dies before the 770c, so I take that opportunity to charge them both. My previous comment regarding my experience with the 770c is entirely anecdotal. By...- rapoon

Ihifi 770 & 770c Thread
I purchased my 770c on 6/5/15 off Massdrop. An SMSL SAP-7 (basically an e6 with better housing) is velcroed to the back of the 770c. The SAP-7's function is it's EQ which is identical to the e6 (significantly better than the muddied A1). A FiiO 2.2" cable from dark/out to the amp (LO is On)...- rapoon

GR07 - Tips Thread
Personally, I feel the grey tips are much better than the blacks because they fit 'correctly'. The only way the blacks fit is if they're pushed down all the way and cover the entire nozzle. No other tips fit like this, and it's more likely to create a problem for people who don't want the...- rapoon

Ihifi 770 & 770c Thread
Yep, that's significantly better (took a moment to realize you need to be in playlist mode to freely move files around) than FAT Reader, which is fine but navigation sucks due to default tiny window. jdog, what's up with the favorites function? I'm using internal memory exclusively and in...- rapoon

for anyone else who prefers using an explorer view mode but doesn't like how the player sorts the files (sorted by when they were written to the disk), you'll need something like 'FAT Reader' to sort them properly.- rapoon

AKG-601 & 240 w/ schiit magni
Yea, the magni should be enough for the 601's and more then enough for the 240's. I sent schiit an email because now I'm thinking along those lines. I've spent the last 3 hours swapping out cables, testing all my headphones (iem's included) and with the exception of the brainwavz, all...- rapoon

AKG-601 & 240 w/ schiit magni
The teac is my bedroom unit, where my primary components are (pc is in different room). Othewise, that's a good suggestion. After I made the initial post, I found an adapter for my brainwavz hm3's, plugged those in the magni and they sounded incredible (little overbearing on the bass, but...- rapoon

hoping someone with experience with either of these headphones paired with the magni can chime in. my pc setup is as follows: LiTe DAC-AH (connected via toslink) and the schiit magni. when listening to the 601's it's painfully bright to the point my ears want to bleed. bass is non-existent. ...- rapoon

do any of you own or have you used a Sailor 1911? I'm considering purchasing one but I'm a bit concerned about nib replacement (if it needed it). my understanding is that the nibs either cannot be replaced, or it's difficult and expensive.- rapoon

knife-fi?
Quote: Those are awesome knives, but a lot of ppl who buy a Swamprat or Busse just toss in in the drawer or a case. It's a shame, Busse's don't belong in a case. They're great for field/camp work but a bit heavy. I've beaten the living **** out of mine. The CS Warcraft is ~7". A Busse at...- rapoon
