    DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***

    I haven't been the biggest fan of the 200 in this thread so far, but I was willing to keep plugging away to try and make it work as a DX90 and DX80 owner. To me the 200 with Amp1 sounds like a 3 way speaker with a good woofer and midrange crossed over at 6k to a ratty metal dome tweeter...

    DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***

    This is hugely encouraging. How does it compare to the DX90? I find the 90 much more organic and natural than the SE or balanced out of the Amp1 DX200.

    DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***

    I reseated the amp module. Did it effect the brightness a little? Maybe. The sound from the unit is as though it is a 3 way speaker with poor driver integration. Like a cohesive but not particularly organic bass and mid crossed over to a ratty metal dome tweeter. So I finally received a...

    DX200=Affordable High End Audio. Dual ES9028Pro dacs. AMP1, AMP3, AMP5, AMP7 & AMP8 ***Firmware support now up for AMP9***

    Honestly guys.  Tried again tonite after 24 more hours (475 hour zone).  This thing is a poor alternative to the DX90.  Wiry, inorganic and gutless hifi.  The 90 is wildly better if you have any idea how live vs reproduced music sounds.  I hope they come out with a  new amp module. Or that...

    450 hours plus now. Played a cut last night and heard weird wiry stuff going on in the hf. Played exact same thing on my DX90 and it was purer on top.

    I'm really hoping balanced sounds better than the regular output.  After using the DX90 and 80 for a while, I'm struck by this players wiry highs.  Very "hifi" in a way that isn't good.  This with Audeze Sines.  I have a balanced copper cable inbound that I hope may turn this around.  But, while...

    Save the cynicism.  I've been using DAPs for years and this is a new level of stupid.  Quit covering for manufacturers who sell you products to do their beta testing for them.  For a thousand dollars it shouldn't take scrounging forums and scanning redundant posts to figure out how to do 101...

    Tried both ways.  Neither works.  Now I'm back to the usual buggy iBasso **** of the pc not seeing the SD card in the player while the player is hooked to the pc.  Just like my DX90 90% of the time.

    I've gotten past that and am now trying to update the January firmware.  It just keeps hitting  a screen that says "Checking the package....   Verifying failed, please check you package."   Check my package indeed.   Man this thing is buggy as hell compared to my DX90.   I cannot update...

    I get no icon on the lower left of the page.  I boot it and it has a banner across the middle saying "New Sandisk SD card detected"   Over and over and over again.

    How do you actually use this thing?  I got mine about 5 hours ago and whenever I turn it on it just says it found anew SD card.  Zero documentation.  Zero tunes.  Zero usefulness after 2 hours of screwing with it to try to get it to do anything.

    Spotted on Audiogon

    I just saw this Moth Si2A3 on Audiogon: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1325949556 I own one of these, but modded mine to an external power supply and separate heater supplies. You can find my posts on that process in my post history if you dig at it. Somebody should snap this up...

    Not Spearit - actually a dealer I found on Audiogon years ago.  I had been to the cable wars over the years (Purist Dominus, Nordost Valhalla, Kubala Sosna, Marigo, etc, etc etc.).  Then I tried Siltech.  The Emporers are amazing.  The interconnects (Compass Lakes) are equally amazing.  Keepers...

    M1s with the Ultimate upgrade.  Yep, the preamp is a 3 box Aesthetix Calisto Signature with dual power supplies.  I had a pic of it earlier in the thread.  The Rankin piece is a Wavelength Crimson USB DAC re-tubed with old Cunningham globes and a Mullard rectifier.  I've been running it in my...

    Those are my ancient VPI Bricks that I repainted to match the SRA bases. They're iron bricks inside a thin wood skin. They're great mass loading dampers on anything as each weighs 5 or 6 pounds or so. They slightly improve the sense of focus and bass articulation. But frankly, the SRA bases do...

    A few more recent pics of the big Sound Lab rig.....     The amps are EL 34 based Wolcott 220s.  The output and power trannies on these monoblocks are huge.  Each amp weighs over 60 pounds.     I've re-tubed them with Mullard Blackburn plant xf2s.        Joe

    Actually that's really not true of the Sound Labs due to their forward dispersion pattern.  I used to own Martin Logan CLS IIs followed by IIAs and IIZs (over 10 years)  and those things defined head in vise.  Move an inch or tilt your head a degree and the sound changed dramatically...

    A few pics of the speaker rig.  Wolcott amps, heavily modded CEC TL1X transport,  Audionote DAC 4.1 Signature dac. This is with my old Townshend rack.  That's one of the 2 power supplies for the Aesthetix preamp in the background....     The Aesthetix line stage in all it's 3 chassis...

    I understand where you're coming from.  And while you don't believe in tweaks, I found to my increasing dismay and frustration over the years that they make a huge impact on a highly resolving speaker based system.    Too many times I found a set of cones, an equipment base, a digital cable, or...

    I wouldn't say exactly that.  I'm tired of speakers though.  I've been into high end audio (first planars and then a string of electrostats driven with tubes) for over 25 years.   And I'm  tired of the sit in the perfect sweet spot ritual for the best imaging and slaving over equipment set-up /...
