From this thread, Paul said that burning 2.5 balanced with their gadget also burning 3.5 standard too.

That is true, they share a common circuit, so you are killing two birds with one stone here. Besides, that is a reason why iBasso included 2.5mm burn-in load cable with DX200 instead of 3.5mm they have included with DX80

I haven't been the biggest fan of the 200 in this thread so far, but I was willing to keep plugging away to try and make it work as a DX90 and DX80 owner.

To me the 200 with Amp1 sounds like a 3 way speaker with a good woofer and midrange crossed over at 6k to a ratty metal dome tweeter. Seriously. Sizzly, spitty disconnected highs that make sticking out like a sore thumb sound like a good idea in comparison.

Amp 2? Dull. And where's the bass impact and richness? Taming ratty highs isn't just about dulling everything down. This just throws extension and dynamics at the extremes away. Addition by subtraction? On first blush, yes. Because the ratty tweeter is gone. But so in bass impact. And the mids still don't have the organic richness of the DX90.

I never heard the DX100. I wonder just how good it is. Because, so far in the pecking order of iBassos I own the sonics go like this:

DX90>DX80>DX200 Amp2 >Dx200 Amp1

A still very disappointing user experience.

Understand, I'm picky. Very picky. I spent 2 years rebuilding my speaker Xovers with option after option of resistors and caps until I found what sounded like actual music (Jensen copper foil paper and oils and Duelund cast carbons).

This does not sound like actual music. It sounds like hifi. The DX90 sounds like actual music.

Hi everybody, Im a begginer and DX200 is my first Dap. So far, great sounding dap. Can you advise me.? I bought Fostex th900 mk2 and the Fostex th900 balanced cable terminated xlr4. To use it with DX200 I also bought an adapter terminated 2.5 trrs. The problem is that it sounds in mono. What could I be doing wrong? Can you recommend me an adapter.

Does the 2.5mm end of the adapter "click" into place when you insert it into the DX200? If for what ever reason you can't get the adapter to work, I highly recommend Lindsay from Impact Audio Cables. The prices are fair and the work is a masterpiece. He is a true artisan.

Thanks. It clicks but still sounds only the left side. I started to move it and it sounded IN stereo but it ended up in mono again. It must be the adapter. Ill send it back and try again with a new adapter.

I've had my Ibasso dx200 for a while now and although I like the concept of an "all in one" solution. I ended up buying two amps for the dx-200. The headamp pico power and the Alo audio continental V5. Both of these amps transform the dx-200 into something extraordinary. Driving full size headphones (my hd800's, hd 650's and ether flows effortlessly). Iem's also sound great. Both amps are superb, but I have a particular fondness for the V5 as I love tubes. The sound with the V5 is just beautiful.....it actually challenges my full sized rig....DNA stratus headphone amp, with Musical paradise MP-D2 dac (no mean feat). I love that I can take these rigs on trips and get 95% of the sound of my big rig.......totally unexpected!

I have the CV5 and it is an excellent amp. You should try the Continental Dual Mono with the DX200. It brings the DX200 to a different level above the CV5.
