How do you actually use this thing?  I got mine about 5 hours ago and whenever I turn it on it just says it found anew SD card.  Zero documentation.  Zero tunes.  Zero usefulness after 2 hours of screwing with it to try to get it to do anything.

There is a user manual on the iBasso page. To get to the music, touch the icon in the lower left of the screen. Then swipe to the left and once again and you will get to a screen that says Rescan library. Touch that and you can scan the card etc.

I get no icon on the lower left of the page.  I boot it and it has a banner across the middle saying "New Sandisk SD card detected"

Over and over and over again.

Have you try to swipe to the top (or bottom) of the screen on the "New Sandisk SD card detected" screen to unlock the screen? The screen is locked after you first boot up the machine.

I've gotten past that and am now trying to update the January firmware.  It just keeps hitting  a screen that says "Checking the package....

Verifying failed, please check you package."

Check my package indeed.

Man this thing is buggy as hell compared to my DX90.

I cannot update firmware.  Download it on my pc to a brand new Sandisk SD card or try to download it onto it in the player I get the same error.

And everytime the SD touches the player and then goes in the pc the pc says it needs to be repaired.

Thanks to all trying to help!

Update is a precious process.

This is in the manual but it leaves out one piece of information.

First you have to unzip the file, inside is a Read me and also another zipped file.
That is the file you use for the updating.

Tried both ways.  Neither works.  Now I'm back to the usual buggy iBasso **** of the pc not seeing the SD card in the player while the player is hooked to the pc.  Just like my DX90 90% of the time.

I find that so massively helpful while also being so *** stupid on iBassos part I literally don't know what to say.

You could try reading next time?

Save the cynicism.  I've been using DAPs for years and this is a new level of stupid.  Quit covering for manufacturers who sell you products to do their beta testing for them.  For a thousand dollars it shouldn't take scrounging forums and scanning redundant posts to figure out how to do 101 things with them.  For this price it should be plug and play.
